Help! Game Boy Advance Sp Switch broken that switches from playing GBA games to Gameboy Games, is th

I just recently purchased a Pikachu Gameboy Advance Sp , although it does not play Gameboy games. After doing some research I found out that there is a switch which is pushed down when the Gameboy cartridge is inserted that allows the GBA sp to identify and play the old school game boy color game. The Gameboy Sp has no problem playing GBA games but when the switch is pushed down with my old school game boy color games it doesn't work and does not play them. I took it apart and the switch isn't physically broken and is pushed down when the game boy color game is inserted and very rarely I've gotten it to work once or twice but while playing it switched back to GBA mode and didn't recognize the game, does any one know a fix for this?

  • Take the switch apart and clean it with some rubbing alcohol, it sounds like it might just be dirty. The same thing happens on most gameboy switches.
  • how do i take the switch apart?... its soldered onto the board

  • I'll sell you a fully working replacement board for $20 shipped. If I remember correctly this uses a 101 board. Let me know if your interested.
  • I was able to find one for pretty cheap thanks though
