Display problem Sony Trinitron KV-32XBR400

Hello I have a problem with a sony trinitron KV-32XBR400 I just picked up at a goodwill. When i try and play a game on the tv the display either shakes constantly or it will split in half where the bottom of the screen is up top and the top is on the bottom any advice on this would be helpful thank you in advance

  • It's not to upsetting because I didn't spend a lot on it but it would be sweet if I could get it to work, plus j already carried all 225 pounds of it upstairs and don't really want to have to bring it back down
  • Looks like vertical sync is off/lost, the older sets have trim pots inside that you could adjust to lock it back into place, more modern Trinitrons have those settings stored in eproms. You may be able to adjust it through an internal service menu by remote, or it may be fixed by replacing a capacitor that has dried out or lost its value, probably near the inputs. Vertical hold/sync circuitry tends to be near the front of the chassis, any caps there should be swapped out too. Would have to dig up the schematic.



    If you have no electrical experience, would be best to stay out of the television or risk serious injury.



    Try other video sources, hook up a digital tuner to it, other game systems, see if the issue persists.
