--SOLVED-- Problem with buttons configuration in Super Mario All Stars (SNES)

Hi! I have a problem with my Super Mario All-Stars copy for the SNES. Whenever I select Type A (to jump with B) the game always changes it to Type B, so the jumps are only performed with A. I'd like to know if anyone of you has had the same problem, can it be solved by replacing the battery? (Although the games can be saved without any problems). How do I make the change permanent? Thank you!

UPDATE: Today I bought a new battery (CR2032) as ol2 suggested,  replaced the old one and the problem was solved! Now the game saves the type selected again. It's weird that a very old battery can cause these issues. I found on the internet that several people have had the same error so I hope my case will help anyone with this problem. Thank you all!

  • By chance does the game have signs of damage or was bought from a questionable source?

I believe Type A is the original setting for new copies, and the option last used is saved.
  • Well, I actually bought it about 5 years ago and the game was fine and normal. I recently played it and noticed the problem. It seems that the ROM got corruptep somehow while staying in the shelf.
  • I would change the battery, once it starts getting weak strange things can happen to your save files/gameplay.
  • Thank you for your replies. I bought a new battery and if this solves the problem I'll be back to confirm.
  • Awesome, I'm glad you were able to fix it
  • Yes! Thank you for your advice.
