I don't have too many OG X-Box titles. I can say that the Silent Hill titles for that system though were some of the best. The graphics got an upgrade, there was more in-game content and more bonus features.
I try to get all the only for Xbox games, excluding the shitty ones like sports games...
But if I see a great game that's multiplatform...like Castlevania...I won't skip it...depending on the price of course.
Which Castlevania was multiplatform? I thought the one on the OG Xbox was exlcusive?
Oh was it? I'm not a huge Xbox person so I thought it was on the PS2 as well...plus it didn't have that only for Xbox thing...
I just checked, and it looks like it did come out on PS2 as well. I remember it being xbox-only when it came out, but I didn't pay much attention to it after it's initial release.
Also, humblebrag time. After a couple hours of messing with menus and dashboards, I have my 3 xboxes wirelessly system linked now! Completley casual system link gaming can be done on the fly, and I won't get the third degree from my wife for having cords everywhere. It's super convenient for if I need to FTP files to a certain box, I don't have to plug/unplug stuff in anymore. Might try and get a regular system link night going with peeps in the area.
I've put together a decent collection over the last few months, easily quadrupling the number of OG Xbox games in my collection simply by buying every $3-5 CIB title I don't already have. About a quarter of the way there now.
An XboxAge site would be pretty awesome, but probably pretty small. There are some active Xbox communities out there, but they're 90% devoted to modding.
At one point it was planned but didn't go past planning and it became a sticky thread on segaage then a regular thread due to the low number of post counts. There is a xbox semi collecting thread on Neogaf but that has become more about modding and the advancement of an working xbox emulator. At least this thread is going rather strong on nintendoage might as well make it an OG Xbox collecting thread. A small update to the OG Xbox collecting front have the Target Exclusive Bundle on Bloodwake and mini strat guide in blister pack variant. The spongebob squarepant the movie with bonus codes variant which is similar to the Gamecube Variant. More to come.....
Are there any rpgs for the OG Xbox? I only have like 5 games for it but haven't played them because I have no space and the console is huge. I'd like to collect for the Xbox and expand my library.
There's Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic 1 and 2, Crimson Sea, and probably a bunch of lesser known ones. There's a nice selection of Gauntlet-style rpg/hack and slash games, such as Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Gauntlet Seven Sorrows, D&D Heroes, Demon Stone(D&D Forgotten Realms setting), Hunter: The Reckoning 1 and 2(Redeemer), Baldur's Gate 1 and 2(Dark Alliance), Blackstone, and more.
Those are just the big ones that stand out to me. Out of a library of 865 games, I'm sure there's some rpg's in there.
Good RPG's well I guess not too many but some good ones are Morrow wind Elderscrolls, Fable, Sudeki, KOTOR and KOTOR 2. The next tier are somewhat good IMO but nothing special is Arx Fatalis, Black Stone (more Gauntlet style than Traditional turn based), Gauntlet Legacy and Gauntley Seven Sorrows, BG, BG 2 Dark Alliance, Dungeons and Dragon's Heroes, and Deus Ex The Invisible War more Action RPG FPS than straight up RPG Glitchy but fun. And lastly the bottom of the barrel Metal Dungeon, Lord of the Rings The Third Age and that's pretty much it pretty sparse RPG wise.
Thanks! I've actually been combing the list of Xbox games lately for games to look out for. I've got most of the games I used to own already bought back, so I'm on the hunt for new stuff. I totally forgot about LotR Third Age, I never played it, but it got stellar reviews.
To me Dungeons and Dragon's Heroes needs more love despite it being an Atari Published game and Xbox Console Exclusive it is a rather fun and accessible ARPG with pretty decent Upgrades and skills and a pretty meaty adventure. There is also Fallout Brother Brotherhood of steel which also came out for the PS2 that is a nice APRG game despite it being non canon to the main Fallout series. Another decent adventure romp is Curse The Eye of Isis a Resident Evil clone of sorts that does the basic survival horror elements competently and can hold your attention if you let it's a slow burner of a game. And who could forget Call of Cthulu Dark Corners of the Earth a FPS Survival horror with more emphasis on the Creepy and psychological atmosphere that was a planned trilogy but it's sequels were both cancelled due to the poor sales of the Xbox and PC game. An awesome game all around and worth trying.
My only complaint about D&D Heroes was that you had to use premade characters(you just change their name). I was huge into table-top D&D at the time when it came out, and the idea of playing a D&D game and not getting to make a character felt like a let down. In hindsight, I can see how much more complicated that would've made the game, and the limitations of the console. So, I can appreciate the game more now.

I think I just want it more so I can have the collection checklist here...the one on RFGen has all the variants and crap, and I just want a basic list
yeah i do the samething. I try to pick up the ones i consider good games that are "xbox only" titles or ones that were released on pc and xbox only. I'll pick up some of the multiplatform titles as well cause they are usually much better graphically.

Can you link this list, please? I created mine from the Wikipedia listing, but it doesn't exactly match up numbers wise to what folks are talking about here. I also like to keep a full list for a console and check them off as I go. I'm happy to share my list with you if you want.
Here you go ninjistar I compile my list using syd bolton's list of 864 he is missing Halo 2 Special Edition Tin as Number 865. http://sydbolton.com/Xbox_Master_List_FORM.pdf On the xbox thread in sega age I released a Xbox Masterlist update with the then variants list and the 865 original titles but I have been so busy with work and little time to bring out masterlist 2.0 but it will eventually come out. Hope that helps. I do not use the wikipedia despite it being updated for one there are games on there without any visual and authenticated documentation of the certain games and some were mislabled in differentt region code. Happy OG Xbox collecting .
And my list every single game I have and in the upcoming master list "Have" Visual documention and not hersay and rumors stating that so and so titles existed.

Just scroll down to the appropriate listing. The list is only as complete as their database, but it tracks an insane number of variants. They do allow you to group variants, but it sometimes doesn't pick the "correct" variant to display (IE it might put the "Platinum Hits" version in lieu of the regular one).
@ the wizard 666 that is a very nice list but like I previously stated it is missing quite a few variants and for example barbarian came out in Europe but never was released here in the US but is listed.
A few games have no "visual" documentation like Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup, Blitz the league, Max Payne 2 I have never seen those games in the standard grey platinum hits cover I'll give the benefit of the doubt and support they exist but without any proof IMO I would leave them off the list.
I know towards the end of the Xbox lifespan a few titles were sold at $19.99 at retail without changing the cover to the usual grey platinum hits and were grouped and sold as budget platinum hits at the store and was not store specific and were mislabed on the store description as "platinum hits" so that could be one reason.
My suggestion for just collecting the 865 US games use the sydbolton list as it is accurate and is easy to read and printer friendly.
Thanks abrahamh2 and the_wizard_666. Those are both helpful links!
On a side note, I am building out my collection on RF Generation. I had intended to build a personal web app for myself to do this, but why reinvent the wheel? This will do for now!

While you're at it, if you have any information that is missing on their database, you should submit it for them. The only way their database can grow is through user submissions!

Right on. As I was adding Sega Saturn games to my collection, I noticed a few variations that I'm unsure about. I had the same experience with what I own vs the Xbox Wikipedia list. There's always something to sort out. I think tha's half of the "fun" / work of building out big collections or complete sets. As I was adding NES, I noticed RFG has all of the 3-screw/5-screw and Seal of Quality vairations listed as well. That's another thing to look at on my end
I think when the day comes that I get a dedicated game room/man cave, I'll get heavily into Xbox collecting. I emulate everything on the cheap due to financial(and storage space) restrictions, but I really want to collect Xbox stuff. I love NES/SNES more, but right now is just a terrible time to collect for those systems, in my opinion. Demand is super high, supply isn't all that great. I think the original Xbox is my favorite of the 3 generations(more so than Xbox One), so if I'm going to collect anything, it'll be this. That, and supply is still everywhere, and demand isn't huge(yet).
Nice plan Jandrem the OG Xbox I really a versatile state aside from it's awesome modding capabilities, awesome online (at the time) and system link games, usually the best 3rd party multiplats, 5.1 Dolby digital output, sub HD 480p and a few 720p and 1080i resolution games it was an awesome system overall.
I hope more people get into collecting FO it as having more collectors only means more resources for documenting and creating a more accurate database for the og Xbox. Continued success in collecting for the Xbox Jandrem.

Thanks, I've always been a fan of Xbox (except when they first announced DRM for Xbox One, never was a fan of that).
