Your Most Nostalgic Games?

I bet age has a lot to do with it, but what games from your childhood bring back the most nostalgic memories?

For me, Pokemon Red/Blue, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Star Wars Battlefront I and II, and the first two Halos were huge games when I was younger. What are yours?

  • Too many to list... Zelda, Link and LTTP, Bubble Bobble, Ghoul School, Mario 3, Mario World, Jurassic Park, F-Zero, Mario RPG, Starfox, Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and many more. All of those games and more I have very specific gaming memories of with friends and family.
  • I didn't game a ton as a kid, but Super Mario Bros 3 was my first game, so that's definitely some nostalgia there. I didn't really start to play games on a regular basis until PS1, and I was all about the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games. So those crank up the nostalgia for me.
  • Zelda, Ys, Curse of the Azure Bonds, MKII
  • Just about any of my favorite games, specifically any I haven't played in forever.

The past played better than the future.
  • Megaman 3 and 2, Streets of Rage, The incredible Hulk (Genesis), Super Mario Bros 1,2,3... Earthworm Jim, Mortal Kombat, Alien Syndrome (NES), TMNT 1+2, Legend of Zelda and Gauntlet.

These are just the ones that I can vividly remember playing as a young child in my basement with my brother or at my best friends house.
  • Lots, but I have a particular fondness for these oddball titles on the SNES: Combatribes, Fighter's History and World Heroes. Just a ton of childhood memories wrapped up in those games, and I've written about them more than once on my website, lol.

    Good times.
  • Goldeneye, Gran Turismo 1 and 2, Need For Speed 1/2/3, The World Is Not Enough, and Spyro the Dragon 1 and 2.
  • Zelda: LA and Virtua Fighter 2 in the arcade.
  • Kid Icarus, Faxanadu and Baseball Simulator 1000 come to mind.

  • The ones that bring back the most memories are DKC, DKC3, Goldeneye, and Rush 2. Mostly the two DKC games, me and my cousin spent SO many days on those games... my house, his house, grandparent's house at Christmas, playing co-op and competitive, looking for all the bonus items and rooms (we didn't even know the guides existed at the time lol). After that would have to be Rush 2... again, looking for all the shortcuts and bonus items, unlocking tracks and cars, playing around with the really ridiculous cheat codes in that game, battling it out for the ultimate high score or stupid stunt on the stunt track... those were the days lol.
  • Order by earliest memories :

    Good times.

I don't know if we've talked about this or not in diffrent threads, but that game just doesn't get the respect it deserves. Of the "Just after SFII" rush of fighters, it's one of the best.  I like it better than most SNK games that are better known.
