I am not a big fan of the Wii because of the wiimote controller, and even the classic controller pro feels cheapish. Likewise, I'm not really attracted to the Wii U. StarFox Zero on the other hand, sounds cool, but again I don't believe it will be a system seller.
The wii u isnt anything like the wii. Thats the kind of misconception that led to this wii u mess.
I'm not trying to sell you on it as it makes no difference to me whether you own a Wii U or not
No, of course not. Thank you again for the suggestions and I will do some more "research"
Ultimately I will probably get a U, but I will return to how I did in 64/GC days (when I had expenses but no money) and wait until it's not current gen any more.
look forward to your future thread on why did you wait this long to play some of these great games.

Ditto. I use a pro controller for 95% of gameplay on wii u. The pro controller is a better version of an xbox 360 controller fyi wireless and no motion control. The games that require the motion controls and gamepad make good use of them and it is enjoyable and not a chore

Bought my wii U, maybe played it for 2 hours (smash and mario kart) and havent played it since. Have ZERO interest in splatoon (because I like real FPS not kiddie stuff) so I dont really care if it tanks.
To be fair both Smash and MK8 I found to be really not all that fun. I played smash for about 8 hours total, MK8 I could only do for about 30 minutes before I sold it. There are some good games for the console, but those two definitely don't do it for me.
Agree 100%. You would think the heavy hitters would "hit harder" which is unfortunate. I think we all long for the n64 days again, but it is unlikely to happen.
The N64 is my favorite console after all, so I agree 100%

No Mario Kart 8 and smash are both hella fun. They are just not your type of game apparently. MK 8 for 30? minutes lol. Didnt even get into the game man. Why did you even buy it? If you like mario kart its hard not to love mario kart 8. They even added more. The excitebike dlc level along with the second fzero level are some of the best tracks ive played on a mario kart.

Totally agree with Quest here. Mario Kart 8 is my most played Wii U game at close to 100 hours! Got everything including the Gold Kart, Wheels and Kite! Such a great game! Smash is my second most played at around 80 hours and Mario Maker is 3rd at around 70.

Im working on that gold kart. I dont get to play with others a ton so getting the coins is slow. Ive beaten a good chunk of the ghost data drivers, and really close to getting one star on all the 150CC and mirror mode cups.
Mario Kart is the game I go to inbetween playing all the new releases. Been playing mario maker mainly recently, and since yesterday, Yoshi's Wooly World. Almost have everything in world 1 of that game.
Really enjoying Woolly World so far! Me and my girl got everything in the first 2 world's!
I'm still working on trying to get 3 stars on all the dlc Mario Kart levels. I dunno if I'll ever be able to master 200cc though. That shit is bananas! Guess I shouldn't of said I got everything since I haven't got 3 stars on every coarse yet but I have on all the main levels up to mirror mode.

There is no pre-determined time limit to determine if a game is good or not. Smash took awhile as I tried different challenges and modes and the game did not engage me in a way I enjoyed. All the other Smash games are fine still and I still like playing them. MK8 just did not do it for me. I felt 30 minutes was more than enough time to try it out and quite frankly it isnt fun for me. It's not for everyone man. Tried a few different cups and the tracks just weren't fun for me.

Edit: Sorry meant to respond to Quest
50cc? lol every mario kart is boring in 50 cc.
you talk about n64 being your favorite system so you enjoy that Mario Kart im guessing? Mario KArt 64 has the most boring tracks imaginable. There is nothing there. Im not saying I dont like the game, but its highly overrated by nostalgia. Mario Kart has gotten better overtime. With the exception of the snes one because its just so different.
To each their own Quest. I enjoy MK64 and MKWii immensely, no matter what class I choose. I played MK8 at my brother's as well who has everything unlocked, and 150cc and 200cc and everything else just didn't do it for me. Nothing wrong with differing opinions.
I'm an old-school, diehard Nintendo fan, yet I have zero interest in the Wii or WiiU. The only reason I'd get a Wii is to softmod it to play other console games. Not interested in using a controller the size of a kitchen cutting board.
You can use the pro controller which is like a 360 controller for nearly all games. Gamepad isnt heavy and its convenient as shit. I can have a sporting event on and keep playing my game.
Wii u has awesome versions of games you claim to be a diehard fan of.
nintendo really freaking dropped the ball the first year or two of this console and made all this negativity towards it even when people never even played it. The library is fantastic now and people still have this stubborn opinion about it like its just like the wii which its nothing like, or the controller isnt for them. After about 30 minutes i was used to the gamepad . Its really no different then a normal controller. Your hands still touch the same buttons eith a screen in between like a handheld. People who actually play it generally start to love it. I find people who dont either A) never played it didnt play it long enough to get used to it which is every game console controller. Its nothing new . Its a abxy snes controller with analog sticks.

quest we can beat the drum all day....but if people arent going to actually sit down and play these games da fuq is the point. I give up.....yeah i dont like a lot of things that i try. But i try them!!!!!!! holy shitballs how many more im not interested because it looks boring, controller inconvenient, sounds like a kiddie game do i have to read before i just give up on trying to explain. Mario Kart 8 is the best game on the system for me.....period. i have played and unlocked everything in every mario kart game every made for nintendo home console and this is imo light years ahead of them all. The level design, the items, the music the graphics the PRO CONTROLLER! the best
Also 2 games i am looking very much forward to is the banjo tooie kickstarter adn the astlenvania kickstarter which are supposed to be in 2017. Those are going to be boss
90% of my video gaming budget is in the $30 range, and once every couple of years I might get some kind of windfall of cash I can drop on a new system. I spent this gen's money on a Xbox One(although I'll admit I wish I got a PS4 instead) simply because nothing in the WiiU library looked interesting enough to justify a purchase at full retail. I already had TONS of Xbox data from my 360 that was going to transfer for free to my One(Destiny and other full games, 400+ Rock Band songs, etc), so that was my clear choice.
I'm not saying the WiiU isn't fun, I'm sure it's great. But ever since the N64, I've been leery as hell when buying a new Nintendo console. I eventually got a Gamecube when the price dropped, and got all 10 games for it I liked. Doesn't mean I don't love Mario, Link, Samus, etc, I'm just not down to invest in a new console if I'm only going to get maybe 5-10 games for it. I used to own an Atari Jaguar when they were new, so this fear is hard-wired into me.
In 5-10 years when WiiU's are dirt cheap, sure, I'll go grab one, and probably enjoy the hell out of it.

True, its a lost cause at this point. I decided to go for a complete wii u set awhile back. There are actually a ton of 3rd party on this system. Alot of good stuff. Tekken tag 2, watchdogs, rayman legends, sonic allstars racing transformed, deus ex(best version), lego jurassic world is a blast, madden 13( gamepad makes this game awesome actually), arkham city, arkham origins, resident evil revelations, ninja gaiden 3, monster hunter 3 ultimate, mass effect 3, ducktales remastered, Zombie U( I think it will be on all systems soon or maybe already is)
First party lineup is just great even excluding the couple of meh like mario party and maybe mario and sonic olympics we still got
Bayonetta 2
Captain toad
Dkc tropical freeze
Hyrule warriors
Kirby & rainbow curse
Windwaker HD
Mario kart 8
Super mario bros U
Super Luigi U
Nintendoland
Pikmin 3
Splatoon
Super mario 3D World
Super mario Maker
Super Smash Bros
Wonderful 101
Yoshi's Wooly World
All exclusives for the system making worth owning to begin with
I kinda want a Wii U, but I would probably wait till it was clearance priced. My only problem is how important is the online community to enjoying the games? I don't play online, so I don't want to buy a system and then have Nintendo disconnect the service like they did with the DS/Wii
no doubt man I have a backlog of games that you mentioned I haven't even been able to touch because the staples are too much fun. waiting for me is dues ex, resident evil, lego Jurassic world, madden 13, rayman legends and sonic racing I played for a while and really enjoyed.
I really like ducktales remastered and lego city undercover is my favorite lego game of all time. I am about to look this up on the internet but is there a nba 2k? if there is I am kicking myself because that is game I wish they had the most.
I total understand not buying one if it isnt in the budget. I just dont get the hate without playing a few hours of each game before judging especially if you are a die hard nintendo fan

Without the internet splatoon and mario maker would be just about useless as splatoons single player version is short and mario maker is based on uploading levels and playing others form all over the world. Other than that you dont need the network.
There was a stretch there where good ol dragoooooon and i were playing quite a bit of mario kart online but 99% of my play was locally either by myself or with friends.
Smash i really enjoyed the single player challenges vs the cpu. In probably 100 hours of that game i probably played 80 single player locally the online battles are a blast but i would still love this game if it werent there and have a ton of stuff to unlock yet.
so 2 of the 4 above would be useless but there are about 20 other games i love that have no online use.
Yup forgot about ducktales remastered. Beat that one in one night on release lol but it was only 20 new. I should play it again on a harder difficulty.

Also Happy birthday gunpei
lol thanks, it's not actually my birthday though. I don't know what that's doing there. I registered six months ago today, but...?
oh wait that was the 8th and today is the 18th. What the heck?

If you like mario kart its hard not to love mario kart 8. They even added more. The excitebike dlc level along with the second fzero level are some of the best tracks ive played on a mario kart.
I played both games for 100s of hours on older systems. Opinions are subjective though. I think the new versions blow.

Bought my wii U, maybe played it for 2 hours (smash and mario kart) and havent played it since. Have ZERO interest in splatoon (because I like real FPS not kiddie stuff) so I dont really care if it tanks.

50cc? lol every mario kart is boring in 50 cc.
you talk about n64 being your favorite system so you enjoy that Mario Kart im guessing? Mario KArt 64 has the most boring tracks imaginable. There is nothing there. Im not saying I dont like the game, but its highly overrated by nostalgia. Mario Kart has gotten better overtime. With the exception of the snes one because its just so different.
Anyway, this is exactly how I feel about the Wii U
Wii u has awesome versions of games you claim to be a diehard fan of.
nintendo really freaking dropped the ball the first year or two of this console and made all this negativity towards it even when people never even played it. The library is fantastic now and people still have this stubborn opinion about it like its just like the wii which its nothing like, or the controller isnt for them. After about 30 minutes i was used to the gamepad . Its really no different then a normal controller. Your hands still touch the same buttons eith a screen in between like a handheld. People who actually play it generally start to love it. I find people who dont either A) never played it
You can use the pro controller which is like a 360 controller for nearly all games. Gamepad isnt heavy and its convenient as shit. I can have a sporting event on and keep playing my game.

quest we can beat the drum all day....but if people arent going to actually sit down and play these games da fuq is the point.

Yoshi's Wooly World
All exclusives for the system making worth owning to begin with
I really like ducktales remastered and lego city undercover is my favorite lego game of all time. I am about to look this up on the internet but is there a nba 2k? if there is I am kicking myself because that is game I wish they had the most.
I total understand not buying one if it isnt in the budget. I just dont get the hate without playing a few hours of each game before judging especially if you are a die hard nintendo fan
I kinda want a Wii U, but I would probably wait till it was clearance priced. My only problem is how important is the online community to enjoying the games? I don't play online, so I don't want to buy a system and then have Nintendo disconnect the service like they did with the DS/Wii
In probably 100 hours of that game i probably played 80 single player locally the online battles are a blast but i would still love this game if it werent there and have a ton of stuff to unlock yet.
so 2 of the 4 above would be useless but there are about 20 other games i love that have no online use.
yes there was an nba 2k13
