NAGECast - Your thoughts!
I haven't seen a topic like this yet (the poll doesn't count IMO), so I thought I'd start one with my thoughts.
First off, sad cause I wasn't asked to help. I remember this idea being proposed awhile ago and I wanted in, and I was sad
But besides the personal facts... (you're sleeping on the other side of the bed tonight Vince)
I think it's a good start, but it needs a lot of work. This wasn't a podcast. It was a group of friends sitting around and talking, and as much as I loved listening to it. I really wanted more.
I think Quack was on the right path every once in awhile, but he didn't hit the nail on the head. He tried to bring up topics, or ask peoples opinions but there were too many ums, ahs, etc.
I think for this to be successful, it has to be a news/discussion show. Like Howard Stern. Topics are brought up in sections, and one person acts as a moderator i.e. Quack while it's discussed.
I also think there needs to be more news "This week on the NES Scene - this happened, and this, and this, etc." With discussions.
It also really bugged me that this was not edited or scripted. I think in the future, someone needs to a) write down some topics they want to touch upon and b) Needs to edit the audio itself. Some of it was such poor quality, all those empty gaps could have been taken out, etc.
And who was doing the dishes!?
Basically, my personal vision for this was something more professional - not just the dudes sitting and talking. Or if it is that, present it better.
Did I enjoy it? Absolutely!! Will I stay tuned, ABSOLUTELY!! But I don't think there's much appeal to anyone that isn't friends with the people speaking.
My two canadian cents.

ant was hella funny
all of the topics were cool
i think it should be a hit after they do about 2 or 3 more
Freedman, I didn't exclude you on purpose or anything, please don't think that
I specifically remember you saying you hated freedman and didn't want him to be part of it cause he's canadian. Don't lie.

Haha, no no, I knew it wasn't intentional like a "No Homer'S" rule. I wasn't actually sad
Also, it seemed like quack (or whoever that was) had some topics ready to go (like the NCC) and i would have liked to see more. Especially centered on collecting or gaming itself.
Overall it was a good start, podcasts with multiple people ideas and voices are harder to manage then people realize. I did mine for a bit over a year, and it was great fun but it was also work.
Good Luck Guys.
PS. The recording and editing tool I used was called Reaper, and its fairly intuitive and easy to use. Its also fairly cheap.
