Does anyone have a sentimental attachment to a game that's generally regarded as awful?
Top Gun ranks near the top of my list. Its not that good but back in '87 the movie had been out for a few months and it was riding that gravy train. Actually several games in that era weren't very good but I'm sure theres an attachment for several of you

Also "enjoyed" playing Bigfoot on the NES. This was largely because my Uncle had gotten the game and because he got it then it must've been an awesome title. Fast forward 25 years ... not so much.
I've tried replaying it as an adult and it's every bit as bad as people say... but deep down I want it to be as good as I remember
I also prefer Play Action Football over Tecmo Bowl, likely because I had actually played it back in the day. I'm honestly surprised it doesn't get any love at all...it's a solid game, although I do understand why most people don't prefer it...fewer teams, takes forever to finish a game, etc. But to not get love at all, it's surprising to me.
I loved Astyanax on the NES as a kid. At one point, I could beat the game without getting hit.

I don't think astyanax is that bad! I mean for how cheap it is I can find some enjoyment in it, it's certainly not broken or anything
Fester's Quest
I enjoyed Fester's Quest.
It's like playing only the dungeons/lairs in Blaster Master.
Same "gradius-syndrome" problem, as well...stay powered up or just throw in the towel.
SMB2 apparently. According to the worst ever sequels thread.
Nooooo. To me SMB 2, Zelda 2 & Castlevania 2 are a trilogy because they were all in the Sears catalog back in '88. 3 of the best the NES has to offer

Friday the 13th for the NES takes the cake for me. I didn't even know it was generally regarded as a shitty game until I joined this site lol.
Same for me with Batman Forever lol... It was a pretty good game until I got here lol. Though maybe paying $4 for it should have clued me in on that lol.
Altered Beast is one of my guilty pleasure games.
Is that considered to be a bad game? I liked it.
I think people get hung up on the controls on this game, like hitting the sweet spot on the stairs to go up and down
Godzilla on Nes. As a kid I bought legacy of the wizard (or lesbian of the wizard according to auto correct), and didn't like it. I've been a falcom fanboy 20+ years, still not thrilled with it. Returned legacy, bought Godzilla, and I still think it was a good move
You aren't alone Ozzy I think Godzilla is an awesome game.
I had it back then as a kid, it was very hard for me.
Bought it again a year a go when started collecting, when I test it out just to see if it worked I almost beat it in less than 10mins in only one try after 25 years.
I couldn't believe it was just an intro-fight and 3 levels.
1. They wouldn't sell for much anyway that it's not worth the shipping hassle
2. They carry a lot of nostalgic value for various reasons
So I just hang onto them, lol. Besides, you never know when the odd nostalgic urge to relive these below average (to say the very least) titles might kick in.

Friday the 13th will always be my #1 "bad/good" NES game, lol.
I remember I freaked out when I found out there was a Friday the 13th game on the NES (I had no idea it existed until the FuncoLand flyer told me!) back in like late '97. I bitched and moaned until my parents brought me to FuncoLand, and I spent my whole $4.99 on the cart.
I still have and play that very same cart to this day!
