Black Ops III Zombies

I know "Call of Duty" is a bit of a swear word on most dedicated gaming websites, but between all the "tired formula" "_______ is sooo much better" rants and whatnot, is the zombies mode, which I've always had a blast with ever since World At War came out in '08. I can't think of another game since Goldeneye 64 that I've played as much 4-player multiplayer of with my friends. I'm really looking forward to Black Ops III coming out this weekend solely because of the zombies mode, which judging by the trailers, seems to have a far greater emphasis on it this time around.

Anyways what I'm getting at is, anyone want to exchange PSN handles and play a few rounds this weekend? Anyone who's up for it, my PSN handle is Gravity_Blast. Who else is stoked? Leave your PSN (or Xbox SN for the Xbox players, who finally get a taste of what waiting for exclusivity periods to expire feels like ) handle below, and try to keep your Teen Wolf bathroom scene-like troll instincts to a minimum. Let's play a round and see who gets the Ray Gun first

  • I still play black ops 1 zombies with some friends. I find them to be a lot of fun with groups of people. Plus since its just a side show of COD they can release maps for it rather frequently which has kept my attention. I will probably buy BO3 just to play zombies also, but not the day of release. I'm an xbone guy though. So nice dice on playing together
  • BO2 zombies and standard multiplayer has kept me going for the last 3 years. I have no need to buy the next one. Also I don't own any console BO3 will play on so that may have something to do with it.
  • Zombies is fun, but they need to add more to it. Once you pass wave 30, it starts to get boring....
  • In the original zombies, we made it into the top 100 during the first week before people starting getting outside the map and all kinds of nonsense. I also know we made it to at least wave 30 on all the other maps they added later.

I'm looking forward to Shadows of Evil, 1920s film noir meets supernatural vibe, sweet. I know I'm going to do some multiplayer and 4 player campaign sound be fun too, but I really love zombies in the Treyarch games. I'd be down if any NA members want to hit it up on PS4.

In many of the zombie maps, there's more to it than just wave after wave. I actually like the endless wave-based levels and have no problem playing them at all, but many of the maps have either end-game goals (like rescues), or realllllly long, hard to achieve easter eggs that give you a secondary motive to play other than just surviving.

The easter eggs require a lot of time and half the time random players will leave. I meant the game having a few more things by default with standard wave game play not needing easter eggs.

Yeah can't argue that. I mean the way to deal with that is play with mics only (which I have abso-fucking-lutely no idea why this isn't an option in the pre-game lobby), and simply talk to the other players. Micless randoms are the worst, they die once and split before you can revive them. The only thing about putting together a good game is that you often have to spend more time in the lobby putting a team together than time spent playing the actual game. I don't really have that problem too often because usually it's a pre-planned match between myself and 3 real-life friends, but I can see how it'd be a serious PITA to others.
  • I played zombies a lot on BlOps 1 and Advanced Warfare. I often times wouldnt use a mic because most of the people with mics were d-bags. If the other players seemed cool, I'd put my mic on later in the match.

I realize that by starting with no mic, that automatically puts the mic'ed guys at odds with me, but I'm just not super social. I tend to only play online with people I know, and only do stuff like Zombies multiplayer just so there's some extra people shooting, and to learn stuff I wouldnt learn playing alone.
  • I love zombie mode on these games ! Easter eggs are sometimes challenging but when playing games on the Xbox one I like to complete all achievements .Still haven't finished the last dlc Easter egg on advance warfare though . Can't wait to get this game . By the way guys if you don't want to grab this on release day and want to wait for a sale they usually are on sale the day after Christmas for about $20 off
  • While you would think Zombies would be all about twitch gameplay, at least half the battle is the setup. Putting together a plan and the right team is key. Having a mic and being in communication is pretty much required if you want to make it further than the first handful of waves.

I usually tell people right from the get go, you don't have to be the best at zombies, but you have to be a team player. Nothing is worse than having a cowboy who does something stupid only to get himself killed, which usually leads to a group wipe if there is a botched attempt to save him.

    24 hours. Get hype!
  • Agreed. Even if I don't start with a mic on, I'm still opening doors, turning on equipment, healing other players, etc. I can't stand the one guy who always runs off on his own and keeps getting knocked down, and whines when nobody goes and gets him.
  • Love the mode. Not worth paying just for that.
  • So I'd been hitting up a good bit of multiplayer and campaign but really started to get back into zombies today. Geez there is a ton of stuff to do in Shadows of Evil. The trick is using Beast mode to turn on the power and open up shortcuts and new parts of the map. Once you do that you can start collecting items to craft and doing rituals. I haven't really come up with a good way to tackle this, everyone was kinda all over the map in the games I played. I'm thinking you may be able to hold up in the station and then fall back into the cable car and book it when things get bad.

Also Blops III has a full length Zombie Campaign remix mode and smash tv style Dead Ops 2 as an easter egg. Mad replay value here.
