What is the closest thing to an 8-bit smash brothers that exists? If someone could make a good one and not get sued by nintendo, think of how much money they could make. I would buy a cart like that instantly.

    It's probably possible to hack something together. I say this with absolutely zero experience hacking stuff together. But if done well that would be really cool

    There's a NES hack out there called Kart Fighter.

    Joy Mech Fight for the famicom is pretty fun and simple fighter that that has relatively simple moves that was developed by nintendo, additionally although it is manageable to play it in Japanese there is as fan translation that is out there.

    Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters? Nah, that is more Street Fighter II-ish, but I have never played it, so not sure myself. It's got mascots (I guess) and fighting!

    There's a couple in OK that have made an 8-Bit Smash, but I think it runs on PC. Tried to get them to come to LPGE, but one of them had just graduated and they travelled most of the summer.
