Ocarina of Time vs Master Quest

This past summer I beat Ocarina of Time for the first time and it was great, I had a lot of fun and that playthrough propelled the game up higher on my list of favorite video games of all time. Recently I've been wanting to pic up all the Zelda GC games, especially Twilight Princess but no luck on that yet.

Anyways, on Saturday I picked up Ocarina of Time/Ocarina of Time Master Quest on GC for $28 and I started the Master Quest last night... I was wondering, how different is it from the original? I went through the Great Deku Tree before powering down and going to bed and I noticed alot of the enemies were radically different, especially the baby Ghoma's all through the dungeon when before you only saw them when fighting Ghoma. I'm just wondering besides enemies what else about the Master Quest has changed?

Thanks

  • The gold skulltulla locations are different, forcing you to retrace dungeons a lot more extensively to get them all.

Oh thats right, I noticed that last night, I got to a room with a bunch of baby Ghoma's and a giant Deku Baba, when I killed them all I heard a gold Skulltula movin around, I looked up and noticed it was too high up to grab without the hookshot or boomerang
  • I don't get the impression that the differences are anything on the scale of 1st Quest vs 2nd Quest in the original legend of zelda.

I think it caters more to hardcore completionists than normal people that just might want a reason to extend the OoT gaming experience.
  • Barely anything was changed for Master Quest. The dungeons are all largely the same with minor adjustments. Some became accidentally broken, where they can be beaten with extra keys and some sections being skippable. Master Quest makes crummy Mario World hacks look like works of art.
  • Cows in walls. I'm not joking.
  • Like I said, Master Quest comes across as a terrible fan hack.
