Question about DSi XL

Quick question: is the DSi XL the best choice for playing native DS games? The backwards compatibility on 2DS/3DS is blurry and distorted. Does the DSi XL have this problem and is it worth buying when you already have a DS Lite?

Comments

  • dsi XL stretches the screen out. Atleast it feels that way. Just use a ds lite. That way its also a GBA. DSi is the most pointless of handhelds to me.
  • Never really liked the DSi much. Pointless camera gimmick that replaces a gba slot? No thanks. Sold my black one recently I'd had since it came out. I don't remember the screen being any better than the DS Lite.
  • If you are using a 3ds hold start as the cart is loading and the game will load without stretching to fill the screen. No distortion at all that way.
  • DSi XL is sharp larger, rather than blurry larger. Other than that they behave essentially identical.

Same design limitations (no GBA slot, not having all 6 original system language settings).
  • If you like a bigger screen without having the picture become blurrier as what happens to DS games on any 3DS system, then yeah I'd recommend the DSi XL. I'm probably alone in this but my favorite DS is actually the regular DSi. The screens are slightly larger than the DS and DS Lite, the body of the system feels way sturdier, I prefer the matte finish over the glossy of the rest, and I just feel like the picture is the sharpest out of all of the handhelds. But yeah I'd still recommend a DSi XL for the better picture.
  • I like the DSi XL a lot, strangely enough. Clicky buttons and slightly loose hinge aside, and I can't say that I've ever used the camera, but it is a great system. The DS Lite is still probably my favorite, but I find it hard to go back to it after playing on those large screens. A flash card helps transfer all of the GBA stuff over, and then you can play all of the handheld stuff on one device (GB, GBC, GBA, DS) in brightness. Great for traveling too!
