  • I first picked up Rock Band 4 on the Xbox One because I had some old instruments and I read that legacy instruments will work on the new game... only to get home and realize only WIRELESS legacy controllers work on the new game. So I brought Rock Band 4 back to Gamestop and I was sad. I really enjoy playing the drums and obviously Guitar Hero is only guitar, so I didn't really have a lot of interest in it. But I wanted to play a new music game, dammit, so I swapped it out for Guitar Hero Live.

When I got home to play it I couldn't really believe it. I am completely won over by this game. The GHTV channel that constantly plays nonstop music videos that you can play along with is really blowing my mind. I could seriously do it forever, if I could stay awake. The way they have it organized into 30 minute blocks of "genres" and you always have two channels to choose from is really fantastic. I feel like I felt back when MTV was actually MTV. Music videos, man! Gotta love it.

The GHLive part is kinda cool, too, but not quite as fun to me. I like the idea of what they were going for, actually having you yourself be on stage and the band and crowd reacting to you, but I've definitely been spending most of my time in GHTV.

The new guitar controller has been a fun challenge to figure out, since the buttons are organized differently than they used to be. So it feels new again, and I have the learning curve that just wasn't there before. It's strangely fulfilling, as an actual guitar player, to bend my hands in various ways that simulate real chords.

Anyway, I could ramble on all night. Guitar Hero Live is the shit!

cool. I was thinking about picking it up for the wii u
  • Well damn, most of my legacy instruments are wired. That blows.
  • GH wins automatically, they tried something new and I will actually have to practice and get good at it again...I am sick of buying these games with the discs only having 3-4 good songs and I can just blow through all the songs on expert.....yay....that GH live stuff is awesome you have a bigger library of songs available to you off the bat pretty well.

    Love it
  • I'd have to go with Rock Band 4, not knowing much beyond the fact that my friends' band is in it.

rockband didnt do anything really new. Guitar hero actually tried and revamped their game. I used to love rockband more for drums and gameplay. But man guitar hero wins this round easy for changing it up and making the game fun again.
