I finally played and beat Skies of Arcadia!

Wow, I can't believe I missed out on a great game after all these years. The characters were freaking amazing especially the main trio, and Vyse what a stud, traveling with two beautiful girls like that, now that's the life. I really enjoyed the storyline and it was far better than most of the JRPGs I've played. The ship to ship combat was one of the highlights for me since I love that kind of battles. It was really well done, and I just wished more games had that.

Prior to playing this game I never knew that Vyse, Aika, and Fina were originally from this game since I played Valkyria Chronicles, and it wasn't til my third playthrough of the game where I finally notice how cool Vyse is. For some reason I always like Aika on that game so she was always in my roster. Of course Fina was the medic, so she wasn't playable. I knew about Skies of Arcadia since I came out on the GC, but I never bother buying it because there was always something else I wanted to get for the GC. It wasn't until I decided to buy a Dreamcast two months ago where I bought the game and played all the way through. It took me almost 43 hours to beat this game when I was expecting a 80 hour game, and thats with all crew members aquired and getting lost and fooling around. It really is a short game, but well worth the time. I'm glad I got the Dreamcast version because I was able to experience the original game with the cool stuff like the VMU.

I'm probably going to makes this a yearly game for me, where I will played the game once a year along with my typical JRPGs that I play every year.

  • Congrats. Definitely a classic on DC (haven't played the GC one assuming it's pretty much the same?)
  • I actually just finished this game for the first time too last Wednesday for the dreamcast!

I also very much enjoyed it. My favourite aspect of the game was the charm is presented. It reminded me alot of one of my favourtie anime films, Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

    Great experience.
  • The GC version has lots of cool extra content, I'd check it out
