I actually prefer wandering around by myself with the radio on my pip boy blaring. I get a little disappointed when I run into people and have to go through a lot of dialogue.
In Bethesda games, I give up on trying to really soak in all the dialogue. Just know that the four dialogue buttons usually project the same attitude for all the conversations; I think at least. This way you can skip listening to a lot of the dialogue.
A= guenuine, personable "I will help" response
B= usually the asshole, "no I won't help and will make you angry" response
X= mix between sarcastic answers, charisma dialogue challenges (yellow/ orange/ red font stuff), etc. more teetering on the asshole B button side
Y =mix between sarcastic answers, charisma dialogue challenges ("/"/"""), etc. more teetering on the genuine, nice responses projected by the A button.
Of course, these are just my observations. I know a few times the dialogue has not followed this formula, but for most instances I feel like this is how it goes. I find myself just skipping 75% of the dialogue and clicking A or Y most of the time, yet a few people that have been dicks to me, I'll give them the B.
Yeah I've been doing the same now. I'll usually just hit A becuase I'm such a nice guy, or becuase I can never pass up a quest.
I was goofing around with the quests where you have to build up Sanctuary and it was super buggy. Drove me nuts. When I'd assign someone to something, it would then pick that thing up and then i'd have to place it down again. Half my watermelons were planted in the air against my house and then I put a shovel through the floor and finally gave up.
I went to a drive-in and looked around a ton and collected a bunch of junk. Then I hit a land mine and died. Loaded up my last save and it was probably a half hour ago. I gotta get in the habit of saving often.
Thought I'd give a status update: 20 hours and 25 mins in... I'm level 23, and still haven't really worked on my home yet.. haha. I'm just grinding out these quests. Also, I switched it to hard mode right off the bat, and I didn't encounter quite a bit of legendary creatures; I'm curious what "very hard" and "survival" (I think that's what the hardest mode is called) is like in terms of enemies. I've been getting quite a bit of sweet loot from the legendary creeps I kill; I found Grognak's Axe in a comic shop (picked the case's lock), so that's cool that it's an axe named after the comics (also found a few of them so far to give the passive trait % or whatever). The axe is freaking killer; I didn't use any melee weapons up until I got this around level 17 or 18, and I haven't looked back.. I've probably used it about 75% of the time... just V.A.T.S.ing people away with it.
I just got done with a large main-quest in the game; just killed the dude that kidnapped the son, so now I bet it's going to start getting real intense as I'm about to go in against the Institute. I figure I'd share this image; when you guys fight Kellogg (the kidnapper), make sure to search around that room on all the tables and whatnot... I don't remember exactly where it was, but I found this in the room (it's pretty cool that they put the Nintendo-based spin-off game within one of the main enemy's room):
I put in a good 6 hours or so today at least, probably more, I lost track of time. Level 13 and knocked out a bunch of main story stuff as well as unlocking 3 more camps with settlers.
I just upgraded my PS4 from the stock 500GB to a 2TB drive! Super easy and I'd gladly do it for anyone I knew who needed help. So happy I did this to make room while still being able to keep all my game saves.
Biggest issue is I'm having to re-download all my game updates (damn you nearly 18GB Witcher III update!). Luckily Fallout 4 is one of the smallest updates out of the bunch and the first one I completed already.
Realistically if I just stuck to Fallout 4 and The Witcher III, I'd have enough hours of gameplay to get me through the rest of 2015 and even into 2016. But then there's Star Wars Battlefront 48 hours away...
Anyone delve deep into the Brotherhood of Steel questline? It defiantly gets intense ^____^
I just killed Kellogg and saw the ship flying over head, is it worth doing?
I would, but I've always been a fan of the BoS in other Fallouts as well. They hook you up with sweet gear and lots of supplies, plus lots of exp from missions.
Did you get the Pip-fall game in the room that you killed Kellogg in?
Just wait for a couple quests down the line where you get Kellogg's memories; it's such a cool, innovative quest (in my opinion).
Think I'm just now at Lv 15, been doing odd things for the most part unlocking discoveries, dying, scraping everything that isn't nailed down. Just now blundered into Diamond City and have Piper following me. I'm probably over leveled for where I am taking on quests now. Oh well.

How the hell do you get corn or muttfruit to plant for the settlers in the begining sanctuary missions? I harvested wild muttfruit but it doesnt pop up in my workshop menu. Do I need to refine it or something?
Just hit level 17 as well. Spent several hours in Sanctuary Hills building lookout towers on the empty concrete slabs(scrapped ruined houses). Built them between 3-5 stories high, complete with cover to hide and snipe from, and big boxes holding long-ranged weapons, just in case. I have yet to have a need for these towers, but they were really fun to build, anyway. I feel like a little kid playing Fort building this stuff.
Between the lookout towers, and the impenetrable wall I built completely around Sanctuary(minus 2 gates to enter/leave from, with auto turrets), I dare some raiders even try to attack this settlement. Too bad the actual defense rating is only 10, lol.
What's up with Deathclaws? Do you need to use the power armor for them like early in the game?
I actually just encountered my first one (since the first mission) when I was checking out the Witchhat Museum (I think was the spot).. I was level 29 or so at that point, so I just had my companion tank it while I unloaded my missle launcher into it. You then get an egg from a nest within the museum, and you have to return it, or sell it.. I returned it to the deathclaw nest, and the momma just looked at me.. so I figured maybe they all wouldn't be hostile anymore. I was wrong... I ran into one a level or two later, and again just tanked it with my companion and unloaded missles into it.
At level 17 I would defiantly use power armor, or just stay the hell away from it.

No idea.. I haven't really messed around with my settlements beyond the initial missions. I know I planted tatos and melons, and I think I just had them in my inventory and could select them to plant.

Pretty sure thats all you have to do. I think there is maybe different kinds. Some you can plant and some you cant like the muttfruit flowers or whatever. If you've picked up actual corn or tatos or whatever you should just be able to plant them.
Getting pretty far in the game now. I started the Brotherhood of Steel quests but havnt got to far. I think im around level 20. Just finished the mission for the Minutemen where you take back the castle and kill the giant Mirelurk Queen! Pretty badass! Now im trying to get the castle up and running. Almost all in the green now. Just need to get some more materials to finish supplying power to everything! Place takes a grip of power! Im at like 18 power there and im still in the red!
Dog next to the Mirelurk Queen She was kind of a bitch!

She killed me once or twice.. decent "boss" for the game. Just like the deathclaws, monsters like these are why I always have my missle launcher on me. haha
There's actualy a Missile Launcher in that castle, in case you don't lug it around all of the time. I actually was trying to beat her the hard way by using a hunting rifle and relying on my teammates. Then bam, I got the lucky VATS instakill guy to show up and that was all she wrote, haha.
I'm probably level 21 and about 25 hours in myself, but can we keep the spoilers to a minimum? I don't mind mentioning specific quests or saying that a certain area / monster was fun, but everyone reading this thread is at different stages of the game. Or at least tag your post with a big spoilers tag so people can skip it.
Man, the Mirelurk Queen handed me my ass several times. I don't usually use the Power Armor due to using Fusion Cores, but for this fight, I sure as hell did. Packed up my Fat Man, a Mini Nuke, and let her have it. Mowed her down with the Minigun once the nuke went off.

The stranger is such a legit perk.. I have two points into it, and plan on adding the third when I ding that level to max it out.
Right on about the spoilers.. I was trying to not give out too many details of future quests and whatnot.
Even though i am only level 12, I have been investing mostly in intellengence and agility.
Put a couple into non automatic pistols as I've found a few good ones and it's usually what I roll with now! Also a couple into Lockpicking, Computer Hacking, Health and Toughness.
I got my Pip Boy today. Sure enough as i'm playing with it, one of the buttons I push gets stuck inside. I had to take the thing apart to straighten it out, although it still isn't quite right. I looked it up and it's a very common issue at least. Also the padding came a bit squished and doesn't look quite right.
Cool item, but pretty crappy quality. I was only planning on displaying it anyway, so i'm not too disappointed.
These Brotherhood quests are awesome for loot, I highly suggest clearing out the comic book shop, so many goodies. I got an exploding pistol off someone and it's pretty badass, blows limbs and heads off.

Did you get the axe in the locked case? I still am using it, and I'm in the mid-30s.. I think I got it around level 15 or so.. tried and true, baby.

Yep, 2 comics and the axe. I haven't tried it yet, I don't use melee weapons often enough, they look like they'd be great against ghouls.
Also I ran into an elite super mutant earlier, that laser gun from the Brotherhood sure tears them apart.

Definitely just as fun as I was hoping.
