What ever you call it doesn't bother me as much as the fact that it's something that's telling me what to do with my stuff. If I want a factory sealed game on my shelf, that should be my prerogative, y'know?

Yeah I don't get it. To each his own. I have some sealed games. I enjoy looking upon them. Just something neat to me about having that historical piece preserved for as long as I want it to be. If you think that's dumb, that's fine. Won't affect what I do with my money.

My point exactly. To each his own.
This has been the argument for years. Maybe people are afraid that because it's sealed they think that game will be lost forever? It's stuck on the shelf so it's out of circulation? I would like to think that for every 1 hard to find sealed game, there's like a bigillion loose ones ready to play... and they're cheaper because they're loose.

Exactly who cares what people do with their property. If someone having a sealed game really bugs you because it's not being played who cares.
Anyone who wants to actually play that sealed game can. If you don't want to pay the price of little samson and all you want to do is play it then get a flash cart. If it's a CD based game there are ways to play those as well.

Imagine if all those sealed crappy 7800 games were NES instead...

And think, if every collectard did what's being asked, you would never be able to do this again. Nor will your kids.
I think these anti-collectard people (Not directed at you stardust, not sure where you sit) are making up a type of person that doesn't really exist, and blow out of proportion a tiny subset of collectors.
I mean really what am I? I own sealed games, and I own a few atari carts from 35ish years ago. I have my GoldBox collection on a shelf, it will never be played, cause I dont want to damage the disks. But I know more history about thoese games and the sources used in them than any page on the net. Around 2005 I had no time for games, it was study study study, was I a collectard then? I have thousands of games, every opened cart has been in the system, except for NGPC and Wataria games (No systems), but I also have some sealed games I'll never open. So I'm part collectard, part non-collectard?
And why should some broke ass fucker who's bitching that he can't afford games really get the same shit I want, for cheap. I'm normally nice, but honestly. I crawled my way up from $3.25 to where I'm at now. In part cause of the 2005 stint of no time for games. I went from working my ass off on a farm to working my ass off to learn a new skill to get a better job. I've earned my games. To have some little shit say "games are too expensive because of collectors" is assinine. Games are too expensive because of collectors. Games are too expensive because of non collectors wanting to play. Games are too expenvise due to DEMAND, it's simple.
And of the two people, gamers who want to play the game, and collectards who want to relive the whole experience of the toy store and seeing the game new like when they got it christmas day, only one of these people need to own the physical game (Or a cheap reproduction but we won't go there).
It must be refreshing to have such a simple mind and so much time and space in the brain to foster deep enough thought to come up with jealous laden catch-phrases to offend not one, but two broad walks of life at once. Whoever coined this phrase needs a new term of mental prowess coined to showcase their jaw-dropping cranial capabilities.
They won't be able to ear you with their ears covered, though:
I'm a knucklehead, ignorant, idiot offending people who take life and themselves to serious.
Its the hostility behind words that gives them power, hearing "retard" and CHOOSING to be offended is part of this repulsive culture where everyone desperately seeks to become a victim over some arbitrary sound, stop seeking out victimization, its degrading lol
I find it amusing that a select few on this forum get so angry about people being collectors. Worry bout your own self. Go buy an Everdrive and ignore these collectors that infuriate you so much.
And being mad about people being offended by a word inspired by "retard"? Grow up. That hasn't been acceptable since high school. Heck, wasn't acceptable then, most just didn't know better.
I knew this would end up offending so many people on here (no it's not my website) lol. My favorite shelf collector excuse, *insert comment about jealousy*. Let people do what they want to do. If they want to spend $1000s on games that mean nothing more to them than nerd cred and shelf trophies, then good for them.
Personally, I'm impressed by people who own a lot of games and are extremely passionate and knowledgable about what they own. Sadly, many collectors don't know more than what the $ value of a game is and how "rare" it is. The NES crowd is by far the most guilty of simply being shelf collectors. I don't know many Sega or playstation collectors that are simply trophy hunting.
Collectors will come and go. Many of those people who end up getting 400 NES games in a couple of years will depart with those games faster than they got them. You can tell when someone truly loves this hobby and you can tell when someone is here because it is a fad.

Yeah we shouldn't say collectard, lets call them collectaggots instead.
Exactly. I think you're picking up what I'm putting down.

I don't care about what people do, but I'll bet if everyone who owned Palamedes played it we would all know how boss it is.
You know, I think you've inspired me to go play it right now!
Thanks, man!
