what kind of attachments/ peripherals did the nes, snes, and gameboy have .. ?

i have noticed all among the year(s) sitting and reading thru the thread(s) that they have had a good amount of unusual attachment(s)/ peripheral(s)

just wondering at what other item(s) did these three system(s) have ( nintendo, super nintendo, and the game boy )... ?

  • There's lots of them. Like the nes has the roll n rocker and the uforce, those are some of the goofier ones. Oh and the konami laser scope (I think that's what is called?) I dunno there's a lot of them
  • I feel like wikipedia would have something like a list for each, but I'm too lazy at the moment to search it...

I do know that the SNES had a lovely peripheral set under the Exertainment series!
  • Never saw this one during it's lifetime, but had to buy it when I found out about it. Still need to get the Genesis version as well.

What's the going rate on one of these?
  • It is insane to think how far ahead Nintendo was thinking with peripherals that it came out with. Wireless controller, motion sensors, hands free controls, guns, robots that you team up with to beat games, exercise equipment, 3d glasses, etc. Many of these for a system that came out nearly 30 years ago, yet the peripherals are just recently becoming commonplace for systems.

  • For my GameBoy as a kid I had a magnifying glass and light attachement. It just kinda popped on over the top end and the big square magnifying glass would kinda unfold over the screen an inch or two above and it actually worked well. The part of the device that sat just above the screen had the light. I never played without it, it was great. But over the years as it would get knocked off from time to time I guess the plastic wore down and it didn't hold on to the GameBoy as well.
  • didnt they have like a sewing machine for one if my memory is right ... ?

  • Isn't there a list of this stuff in the database? Or just certain items? I'm not sure how complete it is but I imagine it would be pretty damn near it.
  • Cheap plug for the Miya 2000.
  • havent seen any of these ( as in the recent posted photo(s) ) ..
  • I came across this at my local shop. Dude wouldn't sell it though. It's a mechanical turbo. You roll it on the wheels on the back side of the dock to actuate the levers to rapidly press the buttons.

  • I havnt seen that one before, pretty interesting, but looks like a pain to use. Doesnt seem like you can work the D-pad while rolling

I LOVE THIS! That's my type of turbo.

And here is a "handy" item from my personal collection.  I had one of these as a kid and since I most often played my Game Boy on my bunk bed where it was shaded by the top bunk, this thing stayed on my Game Boy. I never used the little joystick attachment.  That thing was awful.  The speakers, magnifier and light were great, though.

Ah, the monstrosity that was the Handy Boy. What great name though.

never seen the SNES one but found the Genesis one for like 4 bucks. pretty wild you have the box for it
  • I had multiple XBAND modems back in the day since it kept getting fried in thunderstorms. It was the coolest thing to play Super Mario Kart and Killer Instinct.

A doofus friend snapped the PCB on my copy of Killer Instinct by horse playing around the SNES while the game was sticking out of the XBAND.
  • XBAND also was the only way to get the corner cut copy of Doom to allow you to pick which campaign to play and to save if I remember right.

I remember a level select menu patched in by the XBAND. There was also a level select cheat in the game but I think it just skipped when you entered the cheat (no menu). That was a weird experience because the other player would seem to be looking right at you and you'd run for cover only to see him walk away, completely unaware. That's because the game didn't have multiple angles for the sprites. Same for the enemies in single player but they pretty much always saw you.

Still got my XBAND manual around somewhere. What I'd REALLY love to get my hands on is the XBAND keyboard.
