Nintendo 64 games that don't suck
Honestly, the system hasn't held up over the past 19 years and it gets a lot of flak for it. Most games look like garbage and a lot of the small library was junk. I know tons of people collect for it but if you could put your collecting bias aside for a minute, what games are actually worth owning?
I'm having a hard time justifying an ED64 because the games I would actually want to own would cost less than the Everdrive itself. Talk me into it!

Majoras Mask,
Mario Kart,
Harvest Moon,
...thats about it.
but seriously, IMPORTS ARE AWESOME!! there is a fantastic version of bomberman that was japan only, custom robo has a great multiplayer mode, hilarious sumo games etc.
for single player you've got Loz games, ocarina arguably being one of the best games of all time. harvest moon 64 is impossible to emulate accurately and is one of the most interesting entries in the series in my opinion.
anyways if you dig deep into the library I'm sure you wont be disappointed. Like I said I think it is the best, or at least top 3 multiplayer systems ever in my opinion.
Mario golf
Conkers bad fur day
Star fox
Wave race
The ones that have held up best, IMO:
^
Add Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Diddy Kong Racing (fun alternate to Mario Kart).
How has no one mentioned Banjo Kazooie?
Both Kazooie and Tooie are great games, but I hesitated to mention them due to some camera issues. Same with Super Mario 64 and DK 64.
Heres my list:
Paper Mario
Mario 64
Smash Bros
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie
Conkers Bad Fur Day
Donkey Kong 64
Doom 64
Golden Eye
Jet Force Gemini

I've heard good things about space station silicon valley but I don't have it yet so I can't vouch for that.
While its a small list compared to snes or nes there are a lot of games here that are personal favourites and always have fun popping in every now and then, like paper mario, sin and punishment, donkey kong and wave race.

This. They are fairly inexpensive on xbox. They fixed many issues too. In all honesty I'd rather play the Kazooie games remastered.
Corey, you're the tits.

They were for sure. But for a gamer who has grown accustomed to the improvements they've made to 3D platforming in the last decade, they're harder to play than they once were. The controller doesn't help either. When I went back and played each of them recently, I struggled in each of these games while orienting the camera in a way that let my characters walk in a straight line (especially on thin platforms) or fighting enemies.
That's not to say they're not worth playing or owning. They are fantastic games, but they are harder to pick up and enjoy (at least for me) than the games I listed.
Mario 64
Paper Mario
Donkey Kong
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie
Rocket Robot on wheels

Oh yeah I agree, it certainly helps to have grown up playing these.
Sometimes playing Mario 64 I feel like it hasnt aged the best, considering you have the galaxy games on wii to compare it too.
There's always the hori mini pad which is a little expensive for a controller but such an improvement over the original that I think it's worth it if you wanna play a lot of 64. Also the two banjos were remade on Xbox, not sure if they play well but it's probably easier using that controller over the 64 controller. And donkey Kong is on wiiu virtual console I believe.
Here's my list:
Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage
Banjo-Kazooie

The NES and SNES have both held up rather well whereas the N64 has aged terribly. The thread is more about games worth owning even though most N64 games look like shit today.

Hey man, be fair. Even the ones worth owning more often than not look like total shit.
Some people just don't have the class or level of sophistication to appreciate a finely aged N64 game
Finely aged N64 game? That's something you don't hear every day!

and remember pinkies out when handling a controller made with such perfect craftsmanship. Its shows you truley understand a level of fancy that the commoners (NES and SNES collectors) just cannot grasp.
