Community Dump Project #3 - Exerion II - WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL!

This is the official thread for Community Dump Project #3 - Exerion II.  image

Payment thread has been started here:
http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=19087

The game was made by Jaleco, but never released in the United States.  It's a space shooter that was never released outside of Japan.  More info on it can be found here:
http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Exerion
And for a video of the gameplay:

The proto to be dumped is again being supplied by DreamTR.  The price is $750 for the ROM dump only.  Any interest in having this on a cart or in a CIB will be addressed (not by me) once the ROM has been dumped; please save discussion for that after the goal has been met.  The ROM will be made available for everyone to download just as for Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Power Punch, with the same changes made noting it to be the "NA version".

I do not want this to turn into a debate thread; if that is what you want to discuss, then please start your own thread on it.  Moderators and Admins will be closely watching to keep things in line.

Please post donation amounts in this thread.  We are asking for a minimum donation of $20.

  • Neat, it uses the Galaga sounds. image
  • I'm in for $20. Unlike some of the other options, this game actually looks good!
  • BTW, will we get a cool little rocket-ship icon? image
  • Put me down for $20 on this one.

We need a little chest icon that you click on to see all your other icons or something.. I can see the avatar window getting SUPER crowded. :\

    EDIT: I suck at spelling.

I don't know if it's possible, but if the avatar window was rearranged to show all of the icons arranged vertically, to the right, next to everything else it would probably declutter significantly.

I'm in if I get a cool rocket-ship icon image
  • I'm in for $100 if DreamTR can provide photos of the improved graphics he says the game has, $20 otherwise.
  • It has "improved graphics and sound effects" whatever that means, but the opening title screen, game music, and sounds are all different, but I don't know to what level they changed stuff for a 1989 title screen date
  • $30 right now

possibly more in the next few days

That is a great idea IMO

Where does it say that, the label? And you've compared it to the Famicom game yourself and can say for sure that the stuff is different?
  • $210 the first day, I'd say we're coming along nicely. Thanks to everyone that has pledged so far!

TheRedEye: I'm only putting you down for $20. DreamTR has stated on many occasions that he doesn't have the time or inclination to sit down and compare versions, and that's part of the deal here. If you decide to change your donation, I'll be more than happy to update it on the list.

He's obviously done so already with this game, if what he's saying is accurate. I just wanted to verify his post. I've been dealing with Jason and his prototypes for nearly ten years now, but thank you anyway for the advice.
  • It has enhanced graphics and sound, which was what was told to me when I bought it with Maniac Mansion uncut at once. The sounds are altered and the graphics are "slightly" upgraded, but I don't know how much to what extent. TRE: For this game, $20 is sufficient, I don't think any one person should donate more.
  • ^^^ Yeah, at $750 I almost considered buy exclusive rights myself. Would probably have been the best investment I've made in awhile image Then again, if it was THAT good a deal, Bunnyboy probably would have snapped it up already image
  • please change my donation from 30 to 45 image
  • Count me in for 20 bucks, thank you for this next release.
  • Bump!

Just wanted to let everyone know that there's only around 25 donations left to make this ROM dumping project possible. At 2413 registered users, this could be a very small step.

$20 (and a cool icon next to your avatar) isn't a big deal after all. I'm pretty sure that most people in here have saved a lot more than $20 by having recourse to NintendoAge's conveniences.
  • Updated, thanks guys, keep it going!

with all due respect that's a reason to donate to the site, not necessarily the project.   I will donate to the site any time its needed but to special projects only when they interest me

And to be totally clear, the money in this case goes to Dream, NOT NintendoAGE.

The donations are covering the legwork he's done in acquiring the games, and need to be thought of as totally separate from supporting NintendoAGE, itself.
  • I'm feeling generous that I got my copyNES to work! $500 and I'll get this thing dumped myself =P
  • Whataguy!
