I'm already on to NG2! I beat it last night, but it took me a few continues. I'm nowhere near as familiar with it as I am the first one.
  • I've only one credit cleared "Ninja Gaiden 2" twice.

If you can make it to act 7 without a game over, there is an extra life you can keep grabbing in 7-2 every time you lose to the bosses, so you can keep trying indefinitely as long as you can reach that 1UP. That helps. That and you get an extra life every 100,000 points. It's so much more forgiving in some ways than the first game while being somewhat more difficult in other ways.

Yeah, picking up that 1 up helps. That way you can burn a life in the last section if you need to so that you can get to the boss with a full life bar. This game seems generally easier than the first one, but the stage hazards are a real pain at times.

NG1 has a legendarily brutal final act (maybe not as brutal as NG3's final act, but that game is not as popular as NG1) and bosses and probably most players just give up after the frustration of being sent back to stage 6-1.

NG2 is more easily beatable. Its final act is easier. You aren't sent back as far when you die at the bosses.

But NG2 might have tougher stage designs overall, especially with the hazards.

  • I wanted to see how quickly I could beat this without any pickups, which means no extra health, no weapons and no time stopping.

It took me a little over half an hour, and I needed to use a few continues because I'm just not accustomed to playing some parts without a weapon. But it was surprisingly not that bad.

A cool thing about this game is how there are multiple difficulty levels depending on how you want to go through it. Lots of replay value.
  • After seeing all you guys talking about Ninja Gaiden made me want to give it a go again trying for a no death run. I've beaten it about 3 or 4 times in the past and haven't played it in months. My last run I died twice in stupid areas, once in level 3 I misjudged a simple jump and fell to my death... nothing even hit me. And I died again against those rocket ninjas. I made it to the boss and took out all 3 forms in 1 nice go with no deaths. I was pretty happy with that and I feel like if I really get some practice I can no death it. I have a 1CC for it under my belt now.

NostalgicMachine... are you able to perform reliably the quick slash technique... alternating pressing down and B quickly while jumping? If not look up some video or tutorials on it and practice that technique. It will really help with all forms of the final boss. My tip for fighting the 2nd form is to stay near the left or right pillar and jump on it close to the wall facing the boss. You will find a spot where he will get close enough to you but not touch you. Don't worry too much about the fire balls, they only deal 1 damage and if you get good with the slash technique you can hit him 2-4 times each time he comes close to you. I'll jump down to avoid the fireball and back up to attack. Then at least they refill your health before the 3rd form. The second form of that final boss is very tricky but once you get used to it hes not too bad. Let me know if you understand what I mean and good luck!
  • I just tried for a no death run again. I made it to the bosses without dying, screwed up on Jaquio, and then died once more on the way back. For most players this would be great, but I want to finally no death it. I always mess up at least once.

Jaquio is tough. Some times I do really well against him and other times it's like I've never fought him before

I have the same problem. I can usually get to him without losing a life, but I can only get past him around 1/5 times with just the sword. I honestly find it easier just to play through all of Act VI again and grab the spin slash power up so I can take him out in one hit on my second try.

Knowing how to abuse the midair quick slash glitch seems to be the key to quickly beating this game and sticking it to the final bosses. I'm not that good at doing it yet.

  • I was able to no death it again last night and made it past Jaquio with 2/3 of my life bar left. Apparently the trick is to stay towards the middle of the screen, so that when he shoots his fireballs you can avoid them by running towards the wall. From there just jump up, slash away at him and repeat the process.

I'm getting better at it but still inconsistent at best. Usually when I need it most is when I can't pull it off. Tried again tonight to no death it... died 3 times at the same spot in level 6 that I normally breeze through .. I choked since before that was super smooth. Took down the boss all 3 forms with not much problem had almost 1/2 life after the second and third forms. Seems like no matter how hard or often I try I mess up somewhere.
