Dont really consider it a sports game.

The front cover makes it look like a realistic boxing simulation.

  • It technically is but I personally don't think of it that way.

Those games were amazing. The RPG elements and single player story mode really made the game a lot of fun. I actually just ordered these off the bay.

I agree. I'm not even a big fan of tennis games, so the GBA game caught me completely by surprise. Wasn't it developed by Camelot? That would explain the RPG elements.
  • Mario Golf 64
  • Mario hoops 3 on 3 is one of my go to travel games if I bring my ds along. I'd love to see a sequel for it on the 3ds, I think that Mario sports mix has basketball on it but I can never find it at a reasonable price when I am out and about. Outside of Mario hoops the only other Mario sports game I've ever really invested time in to is Mario tennis on the GameCube which I also really enjoy.
  • Punch-Out is a sports game but it's obviously not a "Mario Sports Game" which is what this thread is asking.
  • NES Open Tournament Golf - it's better than the real thing!
  • For years I would've said Mario Tennis for 64. Played that game so much with my friends when it came out, used to throw tournaments all the time.

But once Mario Strikers Charged came out for the Wii, it ended up being my overall favorite sports game on any system.

My office played it non-stop for a year and the game-play kept evolving as we learned new tactics and counters for those tactics. Had a good fighting game feel to me in that way. I use it as an example of a game that too many people write off based on the a lot of factors.

Wish I still worked with those friends, i'd totally pop in it on Monday.
