Super Tetris 2, Super Tetris 3. Maybe not the most exciting games, just very solid "pick up and play". Except for those pesky pentominos in later Bombliss stages. Argh!)
I don't think anyone has mentioned "Kirby's Avalanche" yet. That's probably because Puyo Poyo is playable in so many forms on so many other platforms and regions (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, anyone?). Also, "Tetris Attack" is better, but I already mentioned that.
That said, it was my introduction to "Puyo Puyo" and it is a really good versus puzzler (second only to Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon/Puzzle League, IMO). I actually never lost a single game of "Kirby's Avalanche" on the SNES "XBAND Videogame Modem!"
If you haven't played it, just know that it's great. The music and gameplay are perfect even if Kirby was shoehorned into it. Just make sure you've mastered "Tetris Attack" first (soooo much better and it has an awesome "Yoshi's Island" theme to boot!).
Arcana. I don't even like dungeon-crawlers, and I really got into it because the graphics/animation and music are out of this world. Of course, the in-game map doesn't hurt, either
Wanted to pop in and share the love for Claymates, BOB, and Captain Commando. I spent a lot of time playing all of them as a kid, Claymates has super good art, BOB is the world's most underrated shooter, and Captain Commando is the best beat em up where you can play as a mummy or baby.

I have been curious about this Captain Commando for some time now. Thanks for giving me more reason to dwell on it, buddy

Man, I played that game ALL THE DAMN TIME as a kid. Hand to god it was the only SNES brawler I owned for a while (I was a joint Sega-Nintendo household so I had Streets of Rage and Final Fight CD to scratch that itch) and I would co-op it endlessly. The level design is pretty fun, the bosses are insane, and the whole vibe is just so goofy and Japanese it's like playing a game for some shitty Ultraman ripoff we never got in America. I dunno how expensive it is these days since I still own my sticker-encrusted Blockbuster copy from back in the day but I can safely say from experience that game is fun as hell.
If I can dig mine up from my mom's place I'll bring it over next time we do a thing.

Please do! Now you have me curious. Er, about the game
So happy to see the love for B.O.B. Very enjoyable little game. It feels a lot like what Doom might be if it got made into a kiddified 2D scrolling platform blaster. Right down to the "3 worlds" and "punch" and "BFG" weapons.
Haven't seen anyone mention either Rocky Rodent (hard as hell though) or First Samurai. The latter is an Amiga port I believe, and has a unique look and vibe as far as SNES titles go. The latter is a typical mascot cash-in from the early-mid '90s that has its moments.
Huge fan of True Lies and Blackthorne, neither of which gets enough credit, particularly True Lies.
And on the import/fan translation side, Guman's Proof is perhaps the best "unknown" SNES game out there. Wait, scratch that. It's second to "BS Out of Bounds Golf" which was never released but absolutely devious fun with 4 players. You can knock your opponents' balls out of bounds and cost them dearly. It's cutthroat competition at its finest.
I absolutely LOVE Megaman X2. Love the music. Love the presentation. Love the bosses. I don't understand why the first one gets so much love. To me, X2 is way better. I really didn't like X3 at all.

You're getting your threads mixed up, this is for the good but lesser known games. The bad games you like anyways is the OTHER thread.
And I'm allowed to bash this one, I just beat the game not long ago for the snes contest.
Can't be worse than the first(?) one aka Street Combat
It's a marked improvement, I said fuck it to street combat. I was playing on an emulator, so I tried remapping jump to the up pad (Something the game itself won't let), it didn't work so well

To each his own, but I for one actually like the game. Granted, it's a floaty fighter, but I've played worse. The final boss which was Happosai was a pain in the arse though.
Also, the game does allow the remapping of jump, it's in the options menu (Which, I've found that this day in age, nobody goes to options first, but straight to the game...)
If you couldn't change options due to the SNES contest rules, then that's understandable, but the game DOES in fact have the option:

Tin star is pretty bad ass, just played rocketeer for the first time last night, at first I'm like these planes are fucking retarded, after beating it it felt like an all new game, they continuously switch up the gameplay and it was pretty amusing.

You specifically calling B.O.B. a "platformer Doom" in another thread is what got me to try it in the first place, and I feel like I should thank you. I always meant to play that game as a kid, and I absolutely loved it when I did - the graphics are fun, the weapons are always useful, the levels are huge but not overwhelming, and it's just a fantastic experience overall. Good call, Steve, and I wholeheartedly endorse your endorsement of this product.

Because it's "An amazing 16-bit Samurai game you've never heard off!", or at least it's sequal was. Or so I've been told: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&threadid=147386
And holy cornball cocksuckers, I knew I remembered something funny went on last time I saw this series mentioned.

It is actually a very good game, I want to say it is underrated but I also think there is a decent price tag on it at the same time.
Also Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle and Hyperzone.
