  • It would be a business expense or in some cases, company not having enough money to pay factory after they are produced. We had a case like that with these Street Fighter Wireless controllers for PS2 we were making. We had 3,000 of the books produced and packages, but not the controllers and pulled it at the last minute, but licensing sure would not have anything to do with the pallet of complete games. One would have popped up by now...
  • Sometimes it's cheaper to dispose of units than ship them. If that was the case that's what decision would have been made.

We look at games as something tangible, these companies look at it as dollars and cents.

  • Under what circumstance would it be cheaper to dispose of units than ship to a wholesale outlet and mitigate losses?

You do realize that you have to pay by the pound at the dump as well, as a commercial customer, right?
  • yes, but if you can't even sell the units for a dollar a piece, in bulk, the cost of the warhouse space, shipping, and everyone that has to get there hands on the product and get payed inbetween, it can be easier and cheaper to just dump them.

    It's been done before
  • I don't doubt that it has happened before, but it would certainly be the exception and far from the rule.
