U-Force Power Games ---ROM Release Party!!

Sorry for the short delay guys, me and Dain had a little miss communication on these and I should have gotten them out sooner.

As you all know we as a community worked together to get Uforce Power Games out and released for us all to enjoy!  When I talked to DreamTR a few weeks ago about it he mentioned there were 2 protos of the game, his and one other persons.  Well not only did we work out a deal to get his out there which is crazy cool enough, the person who owns the other proto has also came forward so we are doing a DUAL release of both ROMs (which are in different stages of dev) image  Skyrbe from over at Lost Levels was kind enough to contact me once he heard about the project and wanted to help out.  So BOTH versions of the original game are coming out at the same time all these years later. image

The ROMs don't seem to be able to do a whole lot via emulation, but bunnyboy says that he busted out his Uforce and they do indeed work fine with it.  He is selling them now at
http://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=72 if you would like to pick up a actual cartridge copy.

Huge thanks to DreamTR, Skyrbe first and foremost for allowing all this gaming goodness to come out at one time.  I also want to thank all the donators as well for helping out.  We really do have the best community around.  Good job all.

Once again sorry for the delay, I should have gotten them out last night, but Grand Theft Auto made me forget before bed image  Entirely my fault on that one.

Nah, I won't play it personally but I know a lot of people will want to.
  • woot woot!
  • Which build is further along? Differences?
  • nice

now i can bust out the Uforce

its been in the box just waiting to be used

  • Seems interesting enough... I'll end up buying the repro at one point...whenever I finally have the money to place the order I want to make (which will end up totaling over $300, more than likely...).

Btw, thanks again for the U-Force, ant image .
  • I dont know which version is father along yet. I will have to get a cart built for each version to see which is farther along. I have been told they are both different though. We need a 2 in 1 cart lol.

  • Will the UForce worth with a retroport? I'm not prepared to spend more money on the cartridge after having donated, but I will consider buying a USB->NES port to play these roms.
  • Order placed. I grabed one of those tyson's while I was there. Thanks
  • Good thing I just bought that U-Force to go along with my Retrozone copy!

All these games use the U-Force in analog mode, which is not supported by the USB NES RetroPort and also not emulated by any emulator I know of.  You can play the ROM great on a PowerPak tho  image

For more tech info, the switches on the U-Force set which mode is used.  When any of 1-3 are up it selects a digital mode.  They change the mapping between one to three of the 9 sensors to one of the 8 gamepad buttons.  The U-Force sends back 1 byte of digital buttons, just like the standard gamepad.  Because it acts like a standard controller it will work fine in a RetroPort in digital mode.

If switches 1-3 are all down then it works in analog mode.  Switch #4 selects between 2 sensors which cannot be used at the same time, so there are 8 bytes of analog sensors.  Another byte is sent for the start/select buttons.  The U-Force start button happens to line up with the standard controller arrow pad, which is why that works in emulators.  The RetroPort is also only reading one byte so it will only get the U-Force start/select when in analog mode.

  • Hey Brian I just bought this and Tyson on RetroZone... can you confirm the order went through correctly? I had to do it from a different computer today as I'm in a different office.

Thanks can't wait to bust out the U Force and give it a try.
  • its alright NGD I forgive you image lol

I've recently lost alot of time to a new game myself, Fallout 3 best game I have ever played bar none. only problem I've had with the game is that I've gotten stuck in a few spots and have to load my last save point.
  • i just made a copy:

    http://www.thenesdump.com/screen shot pages/prototypes/uforce power games.htm

it can only be made using gumshoe or dragon power. and use a 27c512 chip for the CHR, a 27c256 wont work
  • Game Genie Codes For All
not too bad for someone who cannot control the game

i was wondering if someone could test these out sense i don;t have the cart or a U-Force

  • Has anyone played it through enough to find and differences. I would but I don't have a Uforce controller yet.
  • Man, this game is tricky. I've never used a u-force before. Hopefully with a little practice it will end up being more fun... I tried the NA version, I'll try the other version soon and post something here about any differences I might notice.
