Yeah unfortunately VGA really dropped the ball when failing to distinguish between some significant variants.  Yes, that MM7 is lumped in with the USA releases.

The most notable offenders are Castlevania IV, Mega Man X and Contra III... all of which have a very common Majesco (non V-Seam) release with the black and white manual.  Easy to find sealed, fairly cheap.  Yet they all have V-Seam versions too, which are SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive and desirable.

Yet when you ask about the population for any of those titles, they are all lumped in together.  And while it could be fixed going forward, the entire population on those games are pretty much ruined at this point.  You have no idea how much V-Seam is out there compared to the cheap Majesco stuff.

That would be as bad as grading all of the Player's Choice in with the regular non-PC population for a title.
  • Yeah those two are lumped together in the system and I don't know why.
  • how much does scratches on the factory seal affect the grading of a sealed game? can you explain a bit?

That all depends on where it is and how deep it is etc. I'm not a grader so I couldn't even tell you specifics.

  • Is the Form # to put on the submission lists the number on top of the first page you print out? Also if I am sending in 2 separate boxes do I just include the submission list in each box with the whole packet in 1 box or do I include the whole submission packet in each box? Any help is appreciated first submission so want to make sure I do it right.

Heya! Have you seen this thread?:

    http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=157265

Very curious about any insight into CGA/VGA's thoughts about this serious error.

  • I'll take a look.
  • Hey VGADude, the site is FUBAR. I can't even download a submission form, let alone generate a form online. I assume I'm not the only one having issues with the site.
  • We're aware and are working on it right now. I think something broke over the weekend.
  • For how long is there a + grade possible in the grading?

I've got several games which are 85 and just wanted to check if the VGA can grade them up for a gold status (85+).
  • We have had plus grades for a few years so I am not sure if we sent them back they would grade higher than they are now.
  • WTB NTSC VGA Pokemon Red 90 or Emerald 90

Willing to pay big bucks for a VGA NTSC 90 Red and the same goes for a 90 Emerald. If anyone knows anyone willing to sell please send me a pm. Thanks
  • I just bought my first VGA case (not graded, just the case), and I wanted to come say nice things about them! It really makes a ho-hum looking cart look super swanky!

Highly recommend them for your high-end loose carts.
  • What did that set you back including shipping?

I bought four of them, and these ones are UV resistant. It was $117.16 shipped for the four. The non-UV ones are a few dollars cheaper for each.

  • Fuck that looks boss dude!
  • So I wanted to ask you guys. I've been thinking about getting my star fox weekend cart graded. I've seen World Championship carts graded with the PCB removed and place beside the casing. I was thinking about doing the same thing with my Star Fox Weekend cart. So my question is, do you you think grading a loose cart with the board showing is a good idea?

I personally don't like how it looks; I actually don't like graded carts in general, regardless of appearance, so perhaps I'm bias.

No. I'm not even a fan of the NG grading they do, considering the Atari "proto" gaffe recently

Nah, I wouldn't. I'd get a sliding case like you have for the Extertainment cart, but not permanently slabbed.
  • Thought I would post my vga title Missprint. Here. ""Collectors edition "". Sayyyyyy whattttt naw homie this is first print runnnnn.....u have met a terrible fate haven't you?

That's annoying. I used to have a black label game marked as greatest hits.

If you contact them and show the error, they should offer to recase it free of charge. If you're ever sending in another game to get graded, you could ship them together.

Collector's Edition is the first print though.  You don't release a collector's edition well after the game comes out.
  • the vggrader.com website seems to be offline for a couple of days now - what's up there?
  • It's been working just fine for me.
  • Hey guys. I just have a quick question. I paid for a pokemon blue to get graded and I also paid for it to receive a photograph of the front of my item at web resolution (72dpi) via email (Pokemon Blue). I believe it was about 10 dollars and the projected completion date is 2/18/2016. When do you think the picture should be sent to my email? Thank guys!
  • The submission process is honestly the worst thing ever. Why in the world don't options drop off based on things (sizes, system, year, etc..) you've already chosen? And it's straight up madness that there's no search bar when choosing a game template. I'm sure once you're used to it, it's no big deal. But the whole site is a clusterfuck for someone trying to submit something for the first time.
  • I had a quick question guys. I recently sent in a Gameboy sealed to be graded, but when I filled out the form, this is the address it gave me ON the form:

    CGA, Inc.

    2300 Holcomb Bridge Road

    Suite 103 - 336

    Roswell, GA

However, the address on the Contact Us page of the VGA website and ALL other forms I fill out shows that the location to submit is:

    CGA

    6920 Peachtree Ind Blvd

    Suite E

    Norcross, GA 30071

This is making me feel super skeptical. Anyone know why there are 2 addresses or what the difference is? The Gameboy got there like 4 business days ago and it was Archival so its supposed to come back pretty quick, yet my card has not even been charged yet and I have heard nothing from them in email. Just trying to figure out what the difference in the addresses are. Thanks.
