I haven't been to see a new movie since opending day for the last Terminator movie. I missed opening day for Star Trek but I'm hoping to catch Terminator on opening day.
I go to movies all the time. Saw Star Trek on opening day, was great! Drive In was fun as a teenager when for reasons that Arch mentioned, but now I prefer IMax.
I don't have the patience for movies anymore, Taking 3 hours + to sit and watch something seems like a waste of time and a risk, unless the movie is great of course.
Once a year, if that. No, I'll wait til it comes out on dvd. Don't remember exactly, when the last Batman movie was out. Home. Nothing better than watching a movie in the comfort of my own living space.
Actually I can tell you all the times I've gone to see a movie on the big screen since 1998, when I started keeping my movie ticket receipts. But I stopped keeping stuff like this, as with all my other receipts I got rid of them all sometime last year, but did type out the info in a notepad document a while back for me to remember by.
Star Trek - Insurrection 12/14/1998, 10:05pm, Skyline Mall(no longer there, is now a Target), admission price $6.50
The Star Trek movies are always good. Of coarse I liked it!
The Mummy 05/28/1999, 11:10pm, Skyline Mall, admission price $6.75
Fun, like Indiana Jones, but refreshingly different enough. Loved it!
Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace 06/25/1999, 12:45am, Skyline Mall, admission price $6.75
Enjoyable enough, but still very disappointing, most characters were annoying, two in particular. Highlights of the movie, the pod racing, though a tad long, and the Darth Maul duel.
Was waiting a long time for this, our Godzilla was fun to watch in the theater, but the acting was god awful, and though Godzilla looked friggin' awesome in it, it wasn't Godzilla. Now, Godzilla 2000, this is Godzilla! Fuckin' loved it! Why wouldn't I?
Good sequel worth seeing, only thing I didn't care for was the Scorpion King's graphics, minor flaw.
Jurassic Park III 7/20/2001 (friday), 10:20pm, Skyline Mall, admission price $7.00
My favorite will always be The Lost World-JP2, which I also seen in the theater years before, but this one was still fun, very exciting, this is what going to the theater is about.
Planet of the Apes 8/9/2001 (thursday), 10:30pm, Skyline Mall, admission price $7.00
Always loved the older movies, so I just had to check this remake out. Best thing about the movie were the apes, but I didn't enjoy the movie as much as I was trying to force myself to, and the ending was stupid.
Jason X 4/28/2002 (sunday), 3:00pm, Skyline Mall, $5.00
Seen quite a few Friday the 13th movies in the theater over the years, and have all of 'em on dvd, watched them more times than I'd ever remember, and waited a long time for this one to come out. Jason in space, sounds corny as hell...should be fun! Very enjoyable indeed.
Freddy vs Jason 8/22/2003 (friday), 10:45pm, Skyline Mall, admission price $8.00 (expensive this time!)
Two of my favorite horror movie icons finally goin' to be in one movie battling it out...I just gotta see this...NOW! Best time I had in the theater I think. What's odd, though I've always liked both characters, have always favored Jason, yet was rootin' for Freddy in this movie. Kick that dumb mother fucka's ass!
Batman Begins 6/18/2005 (saturday), 12:35pm, Potomac Yards shopping center, admission price $7.00
Only one my mom didn't go to see with us, my brother and I just went together to this one, mom wasn't interested in seeing it. I was rather bored the first hour, the second half it became more enjoyable, but it was so different from the other Batman movies it was hard to get used to. Nevertheless, it was a worthy movie-goin' experience.
Transformers 7/07/2007
My entire family went (me, my mom, my brother, sister, her 2 kids, and husband) to see The Transformers movie for my sister's birthday. Been quite some years since we'd all gone out together. I thought before seeing it that it would just be entertaining, but find much to be disappointed about, nah, movie was friggin' awesome. To my delight they stayed very true to the original material, as best they could, a few things were altered, but not in a bad way, only to enhanced the believability of these characters. Starts out slow, kept my interest, but it took so long before all of them started to show up that I was beginning to wonder if they'd have enough time to display all the intense action scenes that happened once it did kick in. The battle scenes were great, very destructive. And anyone who've watched the Transformers: The Movie (the ol' animated one, and show) will recognize a few phrases said or exchanged in the movie as well. The Transformers, Autobots in particular all acted as their characters are supposed to, they're easily recognizable in both look and behavior, and before the battles, there's a bit of comedy with them, made it feel like the old 80's cartoons. Combat though was dead serious. Again, awesome movie, was definitely a worthy one to have gone to see in the theater.
The Dark Knight ??/??/2008
My brother, mom and I saw this together, far better than the previous Batman movie.
Almost in complete agreement with this...except that I prefer (very slightly) IMAX versus a drive-in. Yes, btw, Star Wars Episode III was the last movie I saw in the theater (opening night, if I recall correctly...it was me and a bunch of friends from college, not long after I got back from serving in the Army).
My wife and I go pretty often since we found a good $3 theater. The movies are a little old (but before the DVD release) but if we're saving that much, I don't really care. Though I will be seeing Terminator Salvation in IMAX Star Trek I'll probably wait for the $3 theater.
I go to the movies a couple of times a year. I'm not going to see Star Trek. Last movie I saw was Watchmen, and I friggin' loved that movie! Oh, and Drive-in all the way!
I don't have the patience for movies anymore, Taking 3 hours + to sit and watch something seems like a waste of time and a risk, unless the movie is great of course.
I really didn't know that drive-in theaters still existed (so I looked it up), haven't seen one since I was a kid, but then, haven't been or lived in an area with any nearby.

A risk? A risk of what? o_O
A risk of it being bad . It's not a waste in the end if it was a good movie.
i never go to the movies, i just cant see paying $8.50 per person and then buying there over priced sodas and anacks. next thing you know your up to $25-$30 just to see a movie. i just wait for movies i really want to se to come out on dvd then i buy them fo like $20 or less, and i can then watch it as many times as i want.
also the movies these days really suck compared to movies from the 80's and 90's.
Comments
We saw Star Trek and it was awesome!
The Drive-In is better because you usually get 2 or 3 movies for your admission price AND you bring in food and booze!
Last Movie I went to was Star Wars Episode 3..
I'll wait to see Star Trek on DVD..
Drive In are awesome!
No, don't really plan on it.
A few months.
Drive-in = beer
not yet, but I plan to for sure!
been a few months, the last thing I saw was Quantum of Solice.
Never been to either one sadly. I was supposed to do a drive in last year but it got rained out.

I'm been going more often.
Give me a drive-in anyday!
star trek looks like it would be a crappy movie and i dont like any movies but funny ones
last movie i watched was Harold And Cumar 2
Drive inn because you can take your own food
No, and I don't plan to. I've never been a fan of Star Trek.
Been a few months, specifically since December, when I saw Quantum of Solace.
Drive in.
