My commute is around 10 miles. As the crow flies it would only be 2.5, though
I'm seriously considering buying a decent bike with disk brakes and adding a 50cc gas engine. It would probably make my commute vastly more entertaining...and would cut my fuel consumption to 150 mpg.
no carpooling or mass transit for me. Radio or cell phone is the best way to pass the time.

It takes around minutes or so..
I do carpool.
No mass transportation..
Radio or cell phone!!!
Seriously, though, it is a proven fact that talking on a cell phone while driving is equivilant to a 0.1 BAC (a DUI limit is 0.08). Don't do it. It's just stupid. You have to watch out for all the other idiots talking on cell phones.
It is about 25 miles to work and takes me about 22 mins. most days to get to work.

How do you make a 25 mile run in in 22 minutes? Is your employment location attatched to a straightaway attached to your drive way, where you just rip out, and hit 65 mph the whole way?
(Although he does own the company so I guess it comes with the territory)
If I stay home, none. If I have a car to paint, about 8 miles. Wow how do you guys commute that far almost every day of your life!
It's not that bad once you get used to the routine..
It's only 45 minutes to work, and about an hour home.. Considering how far I drive that isn't too bad.. I know people who live 20 miles from the office and still have a longer drive then I do..
I'd rather spend more time driving and enjoy where I live then less time driving and hate the area where I live.
My commute is only about 45 minutes (including normal traffic), although my boss makes the hour and 30 minute commute each way from Fredricksburg, VA to southern MD every day. He's also one of the first people in and usually the last to leave.... no idea how he does it.

Every time I go to the DC area I'm blown away that people are willing to put up with the commute from Fredricksburg.
An hour and half is if you're lucky and the HOV is open, from what I've seen. I absolutely hate the interchange on the southern point of the beltway.

Southern Maryland isn't DC and shouldn't even be considered a suburb since we are at least an hour south. There's no need for the beltway, my boss takes 234 to 301 and has a straight shot south. It's an hour and a half commute with all open highway miles and none of the beltway congestion.
There's no such thing as a typical commute through the beltway since the traffic pattern is different everyday and you never know how much back-up there will be.
But every time I go or leave the traffic between the beltway and Fredricksburg is awful.
Anywhere from 4 to 8 minutes depending on school traffic.
Nope.
Nope.
Hope the Jeep doesn't blow up.
With the traffic on the main road it still takes me about 10 minuets to get to the shop.
I would have said wank it if I were a guy. Paul forgot about me
