Kids? No, never. Automobile? No, not sure if ever. Motorcycle? No. Most likely never. Bicycle? No. I haven't had a bike since my early teens. Money doesn't create happiness, no matter how much you have, it never seems to be enough, therefore, never happy. Love, and a good family relationship can equal happiness.
-No kids yet, but that is by far the one thing I am looking forward to more than anything else.
-yeppers got a couple cool automoblie toys, no motorcycle though.
-I've got a Mike Aitken S3 BMX bike, but I need to get some parts for it. -I don't think money can determine wither or not your happy, but it can elevate how happy your are.
-I love my family more than anything, so I say a big YES.
- No kids yet, sure I'll have some in the next 10 years though
- 2006 Honda Civic SI
- No motorcycle, I know I'd kill myself since I like to speed
- Got a bicycle left over from college, haven't used it in years
- Money isn't the only reason to be happy, but it definitely helps. You can't have fun without toys and you need money to buy em.
- Love makes you happy even if everything in your life comes crashing down around you. I'm not big on family though, I'm an only child. Other than my parents, I don't keep up with ANYONE and prefer to keep it that way so no one comes begging for handouts.
You can't have fun without toys and you need money to buy em.
Sure you can... Toys are just items to occupy our time..
Like what? Have sex? Spend time with the family? That's about it.
You wanna play video games? Gotta buy em. Wanna watch a movie? Gotta buy or rent that. Wanna watch TV? You are paying for cable. Wanna go somewhere? You are paying for gas.
Money is a necessity to get by. If all of us were poor then NA wouldn't exist because no one could afford games. I'm not saying that the more money you make the more fun you'll have, but money makes the world go round and you cannot survive without it.
No kids, bike, or motorcycle. Yes to a car, money is damn sure helpful. Love is over rated. Just a short term hormonal imbalance used to make us spend said hard earned money.

Money hasn't always been necessary for Humans to live and have fun..
Are you saying all humans before us didn't have fun because they were poor and had to hunt for their own food?

I meant money is a necessity in TODAY'S society. Back in the day having more food and land improved your quality of life, now it is money. Drive down a city and look at the expressions on homeless bum's faces and ask them how much fun they are having.
Once again, I never said you couldn't have fun without money, but money surely increases your happiness somewhat IMO. We'll just agree to disagree. But if you had a bonfire everynight would that still be fun after awhile? Also, wouldn't you want to have smores or a tent to sleep in (both cost money)? I mean if having a bonfire and sleeping on the grass is fun to you then I'm glad you appreciate the subtle things in life. To me that'd just be boring and I'd rather chill at my house.
Ironically, my favorite activity (playing basketball) costs absolutely nothing, but you still have to pay for the shoes and ball
There are definitely times that money and love intersect though, at least for my American family It's a comfort thing to bring my wife out to Mexican when we don't feel like cooking. There are some times when not having enough money to do that when we want to would make us very unhappy.
There are other times when we also enjoy cooking together and chatting awhile. That's certainly cheaper and easier on the wallet...but some days we just don't feel like standing up over a hot pan
Bu the tent/shelter next to my bonfire could be free. Sticks, leaves, grass and mud make a good shelter for free.. We have gotten too dependent in our society on stuff/ materialism..
I guess I'm just simple then.. I enjoy small subtle things in life..
Isn't happiness really just a choice though? I have some friends who have a bit of money in the bank but who bitch and complain more than anyone else I know. It gets to the point where even though they have all the toys, nobody ever wants to hang out with them because they are just incredibly unhappy people. I will admit that I have a house and I have a handful of "stuff" in that house. I do work 50 hours a week but my salary for a is below the poverty level (especially for a family of 5). And that's saying a lot about how little I make considering I live in one of the cheapest areas in the nation. Are we unhappy? Hell no. Would I give you the shirt off my back even if it was all I had if it would make you happy? Sure. Stuff is just stuff and honestly as much "fun" as my stuff is it also causes more headaches than anything else (i.e. having to repair arcade games that break down when I'd rather just play them). Am I just a poor person pretending to be happy to cover up my sadness? No, I am a poor person who chooses to be happy...
If given the option, I would live off the land in a second. Give me a hiking pack and a section of land in the middle of the mountains somewhere and let me just explore. I was homeless for the last two months I lived in Alaska and lived out of a tent even though I had the option of crashing on friend's couches and yet it was the most amazing experience of my life up to getting married and my son's birth. We live in a "he who has the most toys wins" type of society and I think it's complete bullshit. Get out and explore the world. The happiest people I have ever met in my travels were also the poorest... coincidently they were also some of the healthiest people I have ever met.
- No yet, but aiming for 2, maybe 3 in the very near future - 2001 VW, 2008 FJ Cruiser - No motorcycle, I would die at the hand sof an elderly person making a left hand. - haven't owned a bike since i was in grade 6 - Money helps no matter how you look at it. It is not the sole reason by any means though. - Love is the key, my wife is the most important person in my life. I have a huge family and I don't keep up with many of them at all. After all the things I know and have heard and heard about (past and present) there are not too many members of my family i could give to shits about.
Money is not the be all end all to happiness but it helps.
Family is the most important thing in the world to me. Hell I even take my kids to the shop with me most days. Daycare is not an option for us....(see lack of money lol)

I have been to third world countries where kids with no clothes are having the times of their lives playing with their friends.
Ive also been to rich childrens homes and seen them screaming and yelling and crying they want a new toy, when they seem to have and endless supply already.
You dont need money for fun. I remember being a kid. I could find anything and make it into a toy and have fun. I think fun just comes from interaction, not from possetions. Even with possetions you dotn exactly need money, you can trade or work for things you want to play with, you dont have to purchase them with money.
