Top loading Nes with really bad wavy lines!

Hey all, going to try to keep this short and sweet. Need some help with a top loader I recently picked up that has horrible wavy lines(vertical). Is there something I can do to help with this? My toaster nes hooked up through a/v runs and looks great on the same t.v so I know it's not the t.v. I'm assuming it has to do with the RF hookup but even then it is really bad and I would expect it to not be so noticable. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • The top loader is well known for its jail bars but I don't think they should be wavy. Would you be able to take a video of it?

You could try replacing the capacitors and see if that helps.
  • I'm not really that "savvy" when it comes to stuff like replacing capacitors, 72 pins, etc.. I'll try to get pics or a video in a bit. Thanks!
  • The best answer is to get it modded for AV output. A good modder will be able to check the internals and adjust it to remove interference. Short of that you could try putting ferrite cores on both the power wire and the RF wire. If the interference is RF from any source not transmitting directly to the TV it may help.

  • Toploaders have very noticeable "jail bars".

The a/v mod helps but you can still see them slightly.
  • If you play with the RF connection and it gets better, it's just the shitty toploader jail bars. I love the toploader for how well it runs games, but the picture is just miserable compared to the regular NES.
  • Eh, seems I may just be screwed. If any "a/v modders" are on here and come across this post then hit me up!
