My client must love Mario's Right Nut...

So I am starting our accounts receivable testing procedures at the hospital I am currently at, and I noticed that EVERY single selection I made had a different MRN.  I thought there was only one MLN and one MRN, but now I found all these other MRNs at the hospital.

Question: What does MRN stand for in this instance?

Prize: Mario's Right Nut (yes, he will be all yours for one hour... you may do whatever you want with him)

Comments

  • Medical Record Number?
  • nah he's testing collection of receivables, probably, so the 'R' is probably either 'remittance' or 'receipt' or 'receivable'. Unlikely to be 'record' because he's looking at cash receipts most likely as opposed to anything actually health-care service related. Something like medicare remittance number or something. But I don't know what you call things down there so I can't really guess
  • dan, you won! that was easy... go see MRN to collect your prize. ive dealt with the medical records for the past 3 years, and when i saw a capital "MRN" all over the place, my mind drew a blank. all i could think of was mario's right nut. it took me a while to actually remember what the hell it stood for.

bronty, you think too much like an accountant! image deloitte's healthcare AR testing is performed by selecting medical records and subselecting a specific visit that has an amount sitting in AR. then we look for subsequent receipt of payment (either from insurance, the patient, or a combination of both). if they got paid, the AR was good. if they didnt get paid, we have to go into the system and test validity (make sure that procedures were actually performed and billed). then we have to test valuation by assessing the possibility that they will not receive payment for one reason or another. healthcare is a very specialized industry and its really messy when you get down to the detail level of testing things like AR and Revenue.

okay, my little audit lesson is over!
  • lol, I got a blank stare and zoned out about halfway through that second para, Seth image

And as for MRN, I've got three little words: Paint My House!
  • the "three little words" comment made me laugh...

have you seen the movie Tomcats? image haha
  • Yep, although that bar joke's been around for decades. Of course then again, so has Tomcats...image
  • its old, yes... but when you typed "three little words," i could see that blond in the elevator raise 1, 2, then 3 fingers as she says "suck my c***!"

haha, that movie is soooooooo shitty, but for some reason, i love it.

okay, time to watch will ferrell hosting snl!!! image

there are 2 ways to get a girl's clothes off: 1) drug her, 2) make her laugh. #2 is cheaper and less illegal! image
  • Seth, you owe me a quarter for every time you used "Mario's Right Nut" or "MRN" in this thread. It's trademarked, you know.
