5/20/2009 Sports Edition- Poll of the Day

Comments

  • I thought that this poll sucked until I saw that last question. image Tusky just being there is all the drug I need. image
  • Lakers, Cavs, don't care and Tie
  • I don't follow alot of sports. I gave it a try.
  • No question for Dain's team?
  • Blackhawks have got to step this up, otherwise, I'm sending a care package of drugs to detroit. They'll be black and blue come game 4 anyways.

Here's a video that pretty much sums up Detroit IMO.

  • Updated with the other hockey playoff teams... SORRY DAIN!!!

    Oh sure, yeah, um...

Both of my teams lost their openers, but I'm still hopeful.

Well I don't keep up with Hockey and the only series I heard about was the Red Wings/ Blackhawks series.. I thought it was the Stanley Cup finals... My mistake...

    FORGIVE ME, please!
  • don't care about hockey or NBA at all....Tusky is always golden. image In a real game of hourshoes Dain wins cause he is an old man image

    ~~NGD
  • Don't care about Hockey or the NBA Anymore...but I mean you gotta support your home team image.

MRN just seems like onen of those very focused "sports" players...like ping pong and chess
  • dont care, dont care, red wings, tie, penguins
  • LAKERS!

As long as the Lakers lose I'm golden... what's Hockey?

    Voted for Tusky of course.

As far as NGD's quote above I think Dain should impose a 1,000 post count penatly on NGD for his insubordination!  Although I realize he would just make it up in 2 - 3 days but still... image

  • Blackhawks

    Blackhawks

    Blackhawks

    Dain

    Blackhawks
  • Nuggets (Not because I think they will, but because I don't like the Lakers)
it's not that I don't care, I don't have the opportunity to be fan.  Hockey needs to go to ESPN.
Dain of course 'cause he's the MAN!! *looks for kleenex to wipe the brown off of nose*
    same as above.
  • Thought this might be valid for those that care regarding this Poll of the Day, seeing as how people either like the NHL or NBA.

I just read an article from Bill Simmons on ESPN, he pretty much described exactly why I no longer follow the NBA. I have always liked Hockey, but that is a given being Canadian, I am NOT saying the NHL is better than the NBA, just that this is why NBA basketball is boring and dead to me. (I play basketball all the time still).

    An section from his column:

"Call it a lawlessness of sorts. I'm not defending it, just pointing it out. It's been great for hockey -- and terrible for basketball. The NBA suddenly seems like one of those late-1960s dads freaking out because his son has returned from college with long hair. "Wait, you can't shove him after the whistle like that! This game might get competitive! Flagrant-2!" Robbed of the ability to police one another, today's NBA players have no idea how to act when an opponent angers them. It's like watching two young siblings play -- wrestling unsuccessfully because Mom keeps screaming hysterically, "Careful! Careful! Careful!"

Can you play a fluid sport like basketball at its highest level without bodies banging, penetrating players getting clobbered and the occasional testiness? Of course you can't. The NBA pretends you can, though, putting the playoffs in the hands of (mostly incompetent) refs who overreact to each shove and stare. It drives me crazy.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the NBA could learn something from the NHL.

On the flip side you have hockey -- a sport in which players police the ice themselves and happily jump into the boards after scoring a goal. In hockey, it's okay to settle differences like men, and websites like hockeyfights.com thrive. It's always business, never personal. "

  • Lakers, Cavs in the NBA playoff questions (don't really care, but those are my picks)... As much as I'd absolutely love to see the Blackhawks win their series against Detroit, I don't think it's happening (or if it does, it'll be won in 7). Dain wins at horseshoes...one ringer for each of Tusky's tusks image . Penguins in the other hockey question...Crosby and company just end up being too much for the Canes.

I live in Tennessee, and I'm a hockey fan image .
  • PENGUINS!!!!

    woot woot image
  • GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I usually only see one hockey game a year, and don't care much for hockey for the most part, but shit, I gotta support a Chicago team!!

Edit:  This may sound awful, but the death of Bill Wertz, who was universallly recognized as one of the all time worst owners in the history of sports, has been the best thing that has ever happened to the Hawks since the early 1960's.  There is now a renewed interest in Chicago for that particular franchise.
