White Deer?

Comments

  • That's pretty cool Dain.
  • we have the head and antlers of one of those hanging on our wall at my parents house. my dad got that, a big turkey, and a big bear all in the same year on our property. the bear is on the wall too.
  • Those are really pretty animals. Their heads will look great on the wall of some redneck's garage.
  • some redneck's garage? That's not very nice..

Hell, it would better on a living room or dining room wall..

Only thing that goes in the garage is the meat.. Stuffed in a deep freezer..

nice link Dain... Never seen or ever heard about white deer before now.. Although I thought this was a new drink or something at first...
  • ^^^ The funniest thing about my above post is that as I was typing about some redneck having the head of this animal on their wall, Seth was typing about how there was one hanging at HIS house. image
  • haha yea, i just noticed that your post was a couple seconds after mine so there was no way you read mine before you posted! haha, thats awesome.

we dont have a garage. we park under trees so there is sap and leaves and all that other crap on our cars every day! i love the country!

paul is right though, the heads go better in the living room. the meat goes in the freezer. in our case, the freezer is in the basement. the bear is not just a head. it has its arms too. my cats like to claw the shit out of that thing when it is taken down and placed on the floor.

as for MY place, i dont have anything like that. ive never hunted or shot anything. i will have to take some pics of my tiny apartment and post them on here at some point. i spend about 9 hours there a day... 1 spent getting ready for work, 1 spent working out, 1 spent cooking / eating / watching tv, and 6 sleeping. i love my job! image

the deer we have on the wall at my parents is called a pie-bald deer. its not completely white. it has a couple brown spots on it like a dalmatian dog. it is very strange looking.
  • i've saw an albino whitetail before out hunting (not in deer season though)... freaked me out at first... unfortunately they stand out so much that usually they don't make through a hunting season
  • I've never hunted a thing, but I've shot guns my entire life. My dad is a gunsmith so guns were always around. He didn't really hunt either from what I recall, but I think he was just fascinated with taking them apart and making them better.

I don't have anything against hunting if it's your means to eat or if there's an overpopulation issue; sport hunters (ie, endangered, big game, etc) on the other hand deserve to be shot.
  • what do you call a deer with no eyes?
  • No eye-deer.

yeah.. i guess.. i eat everything i kill (minus coyotes, although I have yet to kill one)... squirrels/rabbits/deer/turkey.... it would be cool to get a bobcat, i'd love to get a bear... i would kill (image) to go on an elk/moose/(insert random large animal) but it just costs soo much...
  • I hate people that hate hunting (hate hunting is kind of loose.. I hate the ones who will go out of their way to give hunting a bad name)... I always wish I could throw a deer in to their car lol (nothing against anybody here, it seems like everybody is cool with it)
  • i would love to hunt people, but it would have to be Ice T. we can make it a reality show and call it Surviving the Game 2: He's Baaack!
  • Never seen these either, learn something new every day.

    ~~NGD
  • I've heard of them...my dad used to tell me about them (he used to hunt and fish up in the woods of Wisconsin). Never seen one face to face, though I was born in Wisconsin myself (central Wisconsin, though...not quite so far north).
  • We have a herd of the white deer up at my dads house. They are really awesome. Would be a shame to hunt them! unless your starving and need the food lol then hunt everyting that moves haha.
  • There's a good book I read years ago called "Deathwatch" that reminds me of this conversation. Anyone wanting a quick (but definitely worthwhile) read, check it out.

    I'd hit it.
  • We have several Albino deer in the area here. One used to be in a local park area until some dipshit from out of the area came up hunting and shot it. The damn thing was tame he could have went and Rambo'd it with a knife as he fed it corn from his hand. Well, unfortunately for him they are also a protected animal and I think he is still in jail for shooting that deer.

BTW- Deer hunting around here is kind of like a Holiday. Many businesses close on opening day and guys take vacation/time off etc... And it is for population control, fyi.

I think my problem with hunting stems more in Gorillas for their feet and paws and elephants for their tusks (this is *still* a major problem). Deer breed like rabbits and hunting them is a necessary evil.
