Removing smoke smell from NES prototypes?

Heya guys! I just got these in the mail, but the box they were packed in smelled to high heavens like the thickest, strongest smoke smell I've ever seen!

I have them in ziploc bags in the other room at the moment. Does anyone have a solid method for removing the smoke smell? I don't think I can put them in my game room smelling like this!

  • Bi carb of soda, like arm and hammer to "soak" up the smell in a bag or container. Then if you want them smelling of sometning other than smoke a tumble dryer sheet in the container.
  • I tend to put them in a ziploc bag with numerous fabric softener dryer sheets and leave them sit for a week or so.
  • I've had a few games that smelled like cigarettes really bad. After cleaning them the best you can, just seal them in a container with Arm and Hammer baking soda for three to four days possibly longer depending on how bad it is. Then seal them in a container with dryer sheets for several days eventually it will take care of the smell. I have had success with games and also game boxes.

Another option is to use ozone to remove the odor but it requires a special machine. A lot of dealerships use it to make used cars smell better.

I hope that gives you some options. Good luck.

Thou I've never had to try this before, I have heard it works well.

Looks like Bomberman and Gremlins 2.

As far as the smell, get some of the expensive kind of odor removing kitty litter and put them in a tupperware with that.

This works very well. Had to do it once.

  • Take up smoking to mask the smell and look 10 points cooler!
