Possibly a fake SNES console?

Hey! I'd like some advice. Some months ago I bough an SNES console with a buch of games. Everything was perfect but the only problem was that the console didn't work with games with the SA1 chip games (Mario RPG, Kirby Super Star and Kirby Dream Land 3). I was able to open it up and noticed that there was no copyright, or Sony or Nintendo logos on the board or chips. So I'm very curious and my question is: Were there counterfeit SNES consoles with an original external case and a fake motherboard? If that's really possible? I checked the case and it looks pretty legit to me. I don't think the early models had problems with the modern SA1 games and didn't have the proper logos inside. If this is true, then you have to pay a lot of attention to details when you buy SNES consoles.

  • There were definitely counterfeit SNES Jr.s made, so this isn't incredibly surprising. The housing looks legit, but certainly a counterfeit board. First time that I have seen one in this form factor.
  • That's definitely a clone, but a darn good one
  • Fake. The power and reset switches are blue, which is a sign that it may be fake, and that is not a board I have ever seen in a legit snes.
  • that's one heck of a heatsink on that voltage reg.

    any pics of the underside?

is it just me or are there no traces going to that expansion port
  • Oh wow I've never seen anything quite like this before! Most definitely counterfeit the real ones have Nintendo markings on the PCB just like the games do.
  • Do you think someone just put a clone in a factory shell?
  • It is cool to see fake shell as well, or has soneone else seen blue buttons instead of the purple ones on an original?
  • The build quality is amasing... Im used to famiclones with just one chip, completely covered in tar or whatever the hell that is
