Weird thing on Excitebike PCB? (nes)

Excitebike PCBThe thing I circled in red is almost like you can connect it and play a different thing or something. It says V on the side, and i have no idea what it does.

Is it some toggle thing? Please give me some info, maybe I can make things more interesting with this...

I wanna try stuff with it, but i first wanna make sure it wont fry my console

(P.S: If youre a website mod reading this, or someone who works here, I had to basically disect the entire page script just to get the Add Image dialog box to close. By the end of it, I had hundreds of images on here, not very pleasent when you already wrote the entire thing... What happened?)

  • You're looking at the name table mirroring setting. H is for horizontal and V is for vertical. Keep in mind that iNES settings are backwards from actual hardware. Unless you're swapping out ROM chips to a game that uses a different setting, you shouldn't solder or desolder these points.

I was just looking for the Eprom size I would need to make a homebrew. I was never going to use the donor cart method, as that just makes games rarer...

But the pin this leg should connect to isn't connected by the gap in the traces...

What would happen if i DID connect it?
