Y-Fold Factory Seal

Does anybody know how to make these?  I have a bunch of gamecube games that are sealed but instead of using cellophane and the y fold it is just typical plastic that is very ripped up.  All I want is to take the bad plastic off and put better plastic on.

I know this will probably be thought of as resealing games but I still think the games are brand new as long as the case itself is not opened.

I have a ton of gamecube games I'd like to reseal if possible.

  • Sorry, didn't mean to post so many times. Blackberry is being a bastard. My vote: Don't mess with them. This is resealing.
  • Daniel, I'm glad you asked us first. I know in the past we've attacked you for going ahead and doing things that are of very questionable morality. Fortunately, this time you've done nothing yet, and are only asking for information, so let me lay things out.

Sealed games aren't valuable because the discs are mint, or the box itself is unopened. Part of it is because they're new; unused, but really it's a differentiation. It's rare to have a game that nobody ever played with, and a subsection of that is games which nobody ever even broken the seal on. Having the factory seal is what some consider to be the ultimate in "complete." Without an original factory seal, sure it may still be new and unused, but it's also incomplete in a sealed collector's eyes.

If you're planning to keep these, why not rest assured that you got them new and keep them unopened? If you "know" then why go to the trouble of resealing them? The only reason I can think of is so that they match the other sealed games in your collection...and from the pics I've seen of your collection and your room, you're just not that obsessive.

So what it comes down to is you'd like to seal in a way that emulates an original game seal to "prove" to others that they're unopened. Which is where we get that queasy feeling about this. Even if you have full disclosure and the best intentions, what happens to the next person who owns your resealed game. And the person after that.

We do remember, after all, that you've talked seriously about selling out before. Your posts are still here about it.

So there it is, no attacks, just laying out what's very touchy about this, and why we have a problem with the basic concept.
  • Jone that picture is the bomb man! Nice work!!

  • Alright here's a few things I have to say. 1. The games I want resealed are so bad in their current sealed condition that that partcular seal that they have is ripped up and torn off. And yes I do want to have all my bad sealed games to look like the others and have the y-fold. Now even if somebody did make me some y-fold sealed games I would still tell others that they have been resealed so there are not worries of me cheating others. And it just looks ALOT better. How's about I dl some pics of what I'm talking about?

edit*  and to mario's right nut, your not even on topic.

What everybody else did was wrong.  Just because I decided to try and sell a game for more than it was worth doesn't make me a bad person literally or morally.  Everybody was just being jealous and took it to another level.  Do I hold a grudge?  Somewhat,  after having people call me retarded and others taking action against me on ebay.  I felt that all the friends that I made here were really just a bunch of losers.  I saw a profit in reselling those games but now its just a memory.

If everybody had a problem with it then instead of getting me booted from ebay they could have told me how they felt and left the decision up to me as to whether or not I would take the auction off or not.  If I ever got another chance to sell a repro for a high price then I will do it.  Your loss my gain and I really couldn't care less.

Daniel, the reason that the whole Pirate Booty was a big deal was not because you were taking advantage of a time to sell a game for more money, or selling it for more than it's worth was not the problem at all. Look on ebay, you'll see sales for game that are way higher than their going rates. If someone lists a game at BIN for 500 dollars and someone buys, then that's fine, but the listing is the true point of interest. Your listing stated that you did not know what it was, which is false, and it seemed to be deceiving. This was the reason people were angry, and it for SURE has nothing to do with being jealous..?!?

We just want to avoid another incident like before which is why something like putting seals over these games is a big deal. Even if you have intentions of it being for yourself, and when you sell it to someone else with them knowing it's not really sealed, eventually the chain could break and someone will end up paying for a game they think is sealed even though it isn't.

  • So if I had told the truth, that I had found pirate booty on some website (and not give the name) then that would have been fine with everybody? I just wanted it to look mysterious which is why I said I had found it at the flea market.

Okay, I tried to approach this diplomatically and lay things out, but you decided to bring up an old argument that I wasn't even touching. Fine. You've done this to your own thread, good luck.

You also mentioned that you'd disclose to the person you sold these games to. Even if I believed you, that's not the point. I asked you to think about about the person who owns them AFTER that person. You can pledge to be as honest as you're capable of (and since you brought up Pirate Booty, you've proven that when there's profit to be made, you're not above outright lying), but what about the person you sell to. Once resealed games are loose and changing hands, there's no controlling them.

The only way to be completely honest is to take a small loose slip of paper and include it it under the seal for each one you do this to, that says "This is a reseal." That way you don't need to open the games, they look like all of your others in terms of neatness, and if you do ever sell them, well they speak for themselves.

So the question is, if your motives are pure, would you be willing to do this to each game you reseal?

  • daniel did you think you would come on to this collector's forum and get advice on how to reseal games?
  • wow, i thought dan approached this as nice as he possibly could, which is much more than you deserved, and you're being rude to the only one trying to sugar coat it for you. every other sentence you type up is lame lying and everyone here that can read and count to 10 knows it. if you "really" don't know why everyone was upset about pirate booty, go read the thread about it, that you posted in, or one of the 50 pms you probably got about it.

    Ditto that.

Makes me glad Mr. Mark does such a good job keeping up the hall of shame.

    Pathetic.

  • I LOL this thread. good god.
  • Thread linked to Hall of Shame 2.0, people should read this before deciding to deal with you. To reuse what you've said, your loss is their gain...

If you had told the truth, nobody should have had a problem with it.

Lying was the major thing you did wrong with that one.

Yeah sure.  I didn't think of that.  If I did reseal a game I wouldn't mind putting in a piece of paper that states that the game is a reseal.

Sorry to bring up an old arguemnet, but, if your not talking about the pirate booty then what were you talking about?

edit*  Damn I feel like an idiot now!  I just reread Dan's post and realized that he never mentioned anything about the past.  Sorry Dan.  Now about the Y fold seal.  I have only been interested in it my self.  Also what does Dan mean by the person that owns the reseal after the person that buys it from me?  That doesn't make much sense to me.

Yes I did.  With our without some criticizm (sp).
  • I think the problem is that if you were to sell it to someone with them full well knowing that it was a re-seal what is stopping that person from selling it as a legitimate seal?

completely different direction with this idea why not just buy some protective plastic cases like justabum has but made to fit the gamecube games then every game would look the same on the shelf.

*edit for some reason I wasn't able to post everything I wrote*

then if/when you decide to sell off your stuff there is no way that anyone should get burned on a reseal down the road.

the game stays the same but looks more pleasing to the eye on the shelf with them all being in  plastic cases

I think I see what you mean.  But is it really my fault if I take every precaution on a game even if another person decides to go the wrong way with it?  At least I would be the one being honest.
  • don't take this the wrong way but if you re seal a game then you arn't taking every precaustion because there is always a chance that that re-seal could cause others problems down the road.
  • Daniel, you disappoint me more and more each post you make. I stuck up for you so much when you first showed up here and nearly everyone was making fun of you for your youtube posts and chatroom banter. I really thought you were a good guy that was just misunderstood. If you really don't see what was wrong with what you did before, or with why people don't like what you're asking about... you just shouldn't come back. Just a recommendation.
  • ^^^they were making fun of him for his youtube posts? I thought everyone actually liked them. Well, I guess sarcasm is easily lost over the web.
