What on earth does this to cart plastic?

  • I believe it may have been caused by heat
  • Acid in the foam they used to store their NWC cart could have been the culprit:

Explain how when i found several fire damaged carts they all had the problem.

Explain how I've seen it on carts NOT fire damaged. Correlation does not imply causation; otherwise how can you explain every copy of "Leather goddess of phobos" I've seen was owned by a dude named Marc.  And very high heat would discolor the plastic, same with water or mold.  But I wouldn't rule out heat can be a catalist, it's just not the overall cause.

I'm with 0xero0 on this.  I know for a fact that there's diffrent types of plastics, I've been saying for ages, shine a black light on these carts.  Carts I've personally have taken out of boxes, and have always owned, will have completely diffrent reactions to UV light. They didn't use the same plastics on carts from batch to batch, it was very inconsistant.  And I've only seen the bubbles on one side, 95% of them on the top.  Heat alone wouldn't cause them to bubble up like that (At least I don't think, and wife's home so no testing tonight in the oven), but I wouldn't be supprised if some carts are predisposed to nes zits and get them after sitting in a hot car window for a while.

When I'm not likely to get into trouble with the wife, I might toss a cart in a sous vide at around 120 for a few hours, then 140, and 160.  I don't think if heat is related to it, it's high heat like melting.
  • Cat pee. Lots and lots of cat pee.
  • Heat + moisture (especially animal piss) + bad storage.
  • Hah, I recently got a Godzilla 2 with the same problem! I've been wondering what it was, and this clears it up! Thanks!
