The most bizarre things that people collect?

So I was listening to the radio on the way into work today and was amazed at the topic of discussion.  Not sure how it came up, but there were women calling the radio who were admitting to collecting USED CONDOM WRAPPERS!!  Some girls would only keep the 1st condom wrapper from each guy they had been with and catalog them by date, some girls were much more OCD and kept every wrapper ever with a date / time / name of the guy.

And here I thought we were crazy for collecting Video Games, even though Anime collections are more obscure and "taboo".  I think used condom collecting takes the cake, unless someone else can provide a better example...

  • That is more than a little unsettling...

If I was still dating and encountered a chick's collection after the fact, I would definitely freak out a bit.
  • Their momma's would be proud.
  • How about belly button lint, a past girlfriend of mine was amazed at how much my belly button would accumulate lint during a day, so I started putting it in a jar just to amuse her.

I have since broken up with her and moved on to a normal human for a girlfriend. Ill understand if you call me a freak, but I cant help it if my belly button collects lint each day.

Edit: I do not have the jar anymore either it was thrown out when I kicked her out of the house.

  • well, i don't know if it's that weird, but i use to collect old cereal boxes. i also use to collect my signature by signing a piece of paper every year on holidays.
  • When I was much younger I used to collect stickers. I once had a whole shoebox full. But I put them all over my play set (whatever they're called).

One thing I do collect now is the reciepts from every time I buy a game. And once again I have a whole shoebox full of reciepts.
  • I collect random papers, including but not limited to postal receipts (I still have a postal receipt from when I shipped out 35 packages...cost me over $200 in postage), old bills, bank statements (showing all of 88¢ in my bank account), and other bits and pieces. Blank paper and index cards? I tend to have some of those lying around as well...whenever I get an idea, there it goes, onto the cards, and into my collection.

Yes, for the record, my desk is cluttered image .
  • I actually collect "found" notes, grocery lists, receipts, etc. that other people have left behind, usually as bookmarks in used books or whatever. Coincidentally, I have a blog about that specific habit. Here it is: www.stihf.blogspot.com

Check it out! It's a fun little "hobby" to have, I think.

Well the one second-from-right is solid glass. I used to have fun with it: put it in my pocket and sneak up behind seated friends...and ever so gently brush up against their shoulder until they turned around.
  • From every box of ammunition, or every string of IEE ammo (military), I would take 1 round out and keep it. It started with me wanting to just keep bullets when I was 12 cause it was cool, but I still do it to this day. So I have all these "first rounds", enough that I could probably not buy ammo for two/three weeks.
  • XD, wow.
  • One of my old next door neighbors used to collect pubic hairs from people (not joking)...He had his moms, sisters, step dads, and lots of others...it was really really weird. So glad they moved away.

    WTF mate?

That's some pretty messed up shit...

Then again, I suppose it is akin to people who collect their own boogers. >.>
  • Oh and yeah, to answer the TC's question, I don't collect anything disturbing.

As far as Body-part collections I didn't think it got much weirder than nails. Did they invite you over to see their collection or something, or was this a neighborhood picnic discussion?
  • Dangevin's holy grail. He forget's what he paid for it, but it's "loose". Goes great with the college football hand vac collection.

  • Is that a dust buster on the computer screen? image
  • Oh man, I remember that shot but I can't for the life of me remember why I did it, or what that dustbuster was all about image Thanks for digging that up, though!
  • i think it had to do with finds in the wild and you said you were excited to find a dust buster for $5 b/c you needed one or something ... or maybe i'm mistaken
  • I collected broken pencil lead in grade school. Every time our pencil would break, we'd throw the remains in this sandwich baggie I had. The teacher started getting upset as my buddies started breaking their pencils intentionally to help me out. I still have the baggie buried somewhere.
