Holy Crap, Look what I just found at my local game store!

Well, I stopped by the local game store, and I found this copy of Legend of Zelda for Snes, there are a few knicks around the edges, but the rest looks clean enough, I wonder if it came from the factory like this?? Also note, if anyone did remove and replace this sticker somehow, there should be a noticable crease at the bottom front where the top of the label would have bent down around the front top, and there isnt one   ????

Also have an updated pic of My collection in here!

  • Wow! Now thats interesting... hmmm never saw a misprint on that game before like that! Very cool dude!
  • Yah, but that seriously looks like someone did that, but defininetly odd there is no crease?
  • Yeah, I picked it up for 15 bucks, so even if it's not authentic, I'm not losing anything, but man, I feel about 85% confident that this was originaly placed like this, especially without a crease near the bottom, and I couldn't believe it ended up being Legend of Zelda!!
  • I think someone did this...look at how the edges of the label are curled up.

Still, a very very cool item nonetheless! image
  • Its really hard to tell. Looking at the corners you would think that someone did do it, but there is like no crease at all near the bottom. cool pickup either way though
  • @projecting stars...

Is your avatar the illusive Green Zelda cart??, Can you tell me about it?, is it very common? I've always wondered about that game, but have heard very little about it image

I heard a really good looking guy designed it. Anyways, its twice as hard as the regular Zelda gold carts.
  • Im leaning toward the legit side on this cart cause look at the top of the cart, alot of scuff marks on the crease, then look at the label where the crease should be and you see absolutely no scuffs to make you believe that the label was never upright

But all the wear on the edges of the label will def make some people hesitant

Well, in terms of common/rare, there is only one! However, the place where this was made is still in business (I HOPE) so more may be made in the future!

If this "custom_nes_guy" were to ever make other custom Zelda stuff, you can bet I'd be all over it!

And yes, the green Zelda cart is twice as hard. At least.

Awesome!! I'll keep an eye out!
  • 2legit 2quit
  • the lack of a crease makes it look legit to me

    btw nice collection picks image
  • Very interesting! I removed a label off of a NES cart once (thanks to the help of Dan) and it came off in once piece. There was no crease where you would expect one. If I had re-attached it the "bottom" of the label would not have given it away.
  • Someone try peeling the label off a shitty snes game you have and reapplying it upside down and see what happens. I would imagine the adhesive wouldnt be as good if peeled + restuck?
  • I'd say legit too, those scuff marks, as mentioned, look to be well worn and due to normal age on a real label. Could this have possibly been in a demo unit, turned that way so that players could see it from above or something? Probably not, just wondering what it would be for if legit, if it's not an error. This could be the upside-down plane of SNES collecting.
  • Upside plane, lol, that's a great perspective, u know, I talked to my ex-girlfriend over the weekend, who used to work at this store years ago, and I showed her this game, and she said,"oh yeah" I saw a few of those upside down zelda games in the years I worked there" I said WTF!!! damn why didnt you grab me one!, so has anyone else ever seen one, maybe it was a zelda thing??
  • Ok, well if it's legit...I will start the bidding at...(holds pinky to lip) 1 miiillllion dollars! any takers?
  • That would be pretty awesome. What if this was like a small number of errors sent to one or a few stores in the country?
  • Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just picked up a copy of Out of This World for snes that has an upside down label with no crease or anything, looks like it came upside down from the factory. Got it at the Play n' Trade here in wonderful Lincoln, Nebraska. I remembered that sparky1821 bought his upside down Zelda here in Lincoln, too... maybe it's a Nebraska thing! lol
  • Nice score! These are the only two i've ever heard of for the SNES. The NES has a handful of these confirmed as well.
  • I say legit. Yeah, I agree with all the stuff that's been said before, but you have to think; why would somebody go through all this trouble just to trade it into a game store?
  • here's another pic... 0
  • yes they are most definitely factory error. Just go ahead and try to remove a label and put it back on perfectly. I betcha five bucks you can't
  • Wow!!, cant believe I'm seein this thread again!, and man, that is awesome!, another one in Lincoln, this town just might be riddled with valuable snes carts that have factory errors
  • How do we know that this was done recently. Maybe the label was removed and reattached back in the day 1992-93. It seems legit to me, but if the label was tampered with back in the day, it would be alot easier to remove and reattach when the game was new.
  • Yeah, hard to say, but the curling on the edges leads me to believe it could have been swapped, but why would someone do that? I only ever pealed the label off one SNES game, Stunt Race FX to use as a StarFox2 donor and it surprisingly came off in one piece and with no creasing or other defects. The trick is to pull it off EXTREMELY slowly. I am now wondering if I should stick it on upside down. image I hear they come off quite easily with a hair dryer too. I don't mean to diss your find Sparky.. You may just have a rarity on your hands, but proving it might be a tough sell.
  • Can't say I've ever tried removing a label myself, can't imagine it being too easy. I'm not the best photographer (and I kind of lack computer skills, hell, it took me half an hour trying to figure out how to post my pics! lol) I would just think that if someone did remove and replace the label on my cart that the label would have some curling or stretching, or other obvious marks of tampering. But that's the problem of not knowing the history on my cart, maybe someone years ago in Lincoln, Nebraska went on a mass label flipping spree! lol Can't say I'd have a problem with this cart if someone really did go through all the trouble of flipping the label upside down, though, I've always loved this game! image
  • I saw a Zelda cart like the one in the first post in Omaha at Gamers. I didn't get it because I don't really play my SNES much, and I'm not a big fan of Zelda, but I was tempted to get it! image
