So the first units do not come with controllers? what comes packed in the normal AVS package?
No units will ever come with controllers. There are too many people who want to use the original ones to bump the console price up high enough to cover bundled ones. Inside the box is the AVS, USB power adapter (USA plug), USB mini cord, HDMI cord, and printed manual.

On a more serious note, I am glad you went with the Mini plug instead of the micro, although the standard full size "B" plug with through hole mounts would have been even better. MicroUSB just doesn't seem durable enough for anything. One small tug on the cable and your mobile or other device is "bricked" because you can't charge it or even access data anymore.
Did you have to pay royalties to HDMI foundation for your AVS or did you just say screw it and just attached an OEM plug???
Quick Question B... As a PowerPak user since 2007, other than the mappers, has there been any tweaks that I should know about? It's still running like the day I bought it, but I was curious if I should buy another one and retire this one to my summer cottage on Black River Bay.
Maybe you should get your parents to buy it for you!
But they'll never let me buy it!
I'm going to level with you. The AVS has me more excited than the launch of the Wii U or the PS4 were able to muster. I'm glad tha6 gaming has people like you to put in the time to preserve the greatest generation.
My parents wouldn't let us have our own NES, so I didn't buy one for myself until college I should ask if they would allow it now, my real bday is coming up in July....

A lot like my parents never got me the NES I begged for at Christmas every year, until rummaging through the garage sometime in 2002 after my dad passed, I find an NES Action Set still in the box, like my mom actually bought me one and forgot to tell me about it...
Besides we all know you are hoarding top loaders:

And hopefully pretty soon that fabled 9'x9'x9' gaylord pallet load of AVS will be arriving on your doorstep...

Yeah, my first "console" was a hand-me-down Commodore 64. We had a TON of games on it from my uncle, though.
I mostly played NES at my cousins house and my parents didn't cave on buying us a home console until the SNES.
As an adult, it feels good to be able to burn paychecks on consoles that I had to borrow from friends and family as a child.
What's the best way to ensure getting one from the first batch? I check here and Facebook daily but don't know if it's going to sell out in 5 minutes or something.
I am really looking forward to this release, only other thing iam excited about is bloodstained at this point. Please release some gameplay trailers of the launch games to hold us over.

I don't imagine a 9'x9'x9' galord box will sell out within minutes. Hours, who knows? It it does, I will be happy for bunny.

None of us do. Bunnyboy will make his announcement and, well, we'll have to be ready.
And if you get one before me, I'll cut you be real sad.
I've just been catching up on all the new info here, and I have to say, as someone who has been following this project for a long time, I'm blown away by just how impressive it is. This could've just been another clone system, but you've gone above and beyond and made something truly worthy of the NES legacy. Can't wait to finally get one!
On the launch titles though, are you sure Power Coloring is a good idea? You don't want to risk one of your launch games being in the shadow of the masterpiece Color a Dinosaur.

Dinosaurs are awesome. As long as they're not purple...

That's one reason I didn't do it in 2008 after the PowerPak! It would have been like the NEX instead of something amazing.

I talked to the programmer from Color a Dinosaur, he said the rights have been bought and sold too many times or maybe I would have done a sequel Many years ago the plan was to make a hack called Color a Tuskosaur. Little did I know that Power Coloring would take far more technical programming than any other homebrew I have done...

I do not know if this was asked before but can you dump games to pc with the AVS?
Battery RAM save/upload is there. ROM dumping can be done through the Scoreboard interface, but the computer software side isn't done. It can never be user friendly so it is pretty low priority.
I've been lurking in this thread for what feels like almost two years maybe and I finally created an account just to say how excited I am for this thing to finally come out. I'm more excited to get this on day one than I have been for any recently released console or game!

Welcome aboard the hype train. If feels like we are so close that the anticipation is at all time high levels.

+1 Yes, and I highly recommend you subscribe to this thread and the RetroUSB stock updates thread (use the search function) to get the latest updates when stock arrives!
So, i guess with everyone trying to make sure they get in on the first batch, what are the chances of additional batches given the first ones sell out?
I have to assume retro USB's goal is to sell as many consoles as possible. Yes the LEs will be limited, but I am willing to bet that there will be enough regular consoles to go around.

I'm not as much concerned about it as curious.
I think I recall him saying that he ordered a pretty sizable batch, so it's unlikely they'd all sell out overnight or anything (though that'd be a good problem to have). This isn't like a hobbyist thing that someone is building themselves in their free time, and only a dozen or so go on sale at once.
Here's a few tips from my online shopping experiences. iPhone launches, limited edition launches, etc.
1. Be sure to be registered and already logged in when the anticipated time of launch.
2. Make sure your funding is all set. Billing, shipping address, funds.
3. Arrive to the site early. Refresh often, but not every second. You don't want to crash the servers. Every minute or so.
4. If you land one, don't gloat. Help others by providing tips to help ease checkout.
5. When you are done, and receive your order confirmation email, get off the site. Don't refresh your order status, it's not going to change. Free up the bandwidth.
Above all, best of luck to everyone who wants one.

I want to use a regular controller anyway. Not that the wireless one would be bad, but I'm so used to the little rectangle.

This! Turn your AVS into an arcade machine!!!

Shipping is pricey though. LOL just kidding; NFS...
The 8bitdo and wireless adapter will suffice however for my wireless needs until RetroUSB releases their new AVS controllers.

those analog signals were pretty bad
Pull out the box and that's right - I can't believe this too
but with HDMI signals our youth pulls through.
YEAH, GO BUNNYBOY, YEAH GET SOME, WICKY WICKI WICK!!
Awesome... Intense...
The Advanced Video System, your parents help you hook it up. Wireless NES controllers sold separately.

I think many of our parents are from that generation who wouldn't have a clue how to set it up. LOL, nice poem!
