How to confirm a true seal(maxi 15)
This has probably been covered, but I didn't find a thread about this specific game-Maxi 15, with the yellow jacket.
So, theres no horizontal seam, I asked the flea market seller and told him that all Fact.Sealed games should have this. We bantered back and forth and I asked him if he was EMPHATIC that it was factory sealed. He said the seller he was working for was quote "a fuckin honest dude", as if that really means anything, but I have bought from the actual seller at other fleas, and he's a nice older guy, maybe 60, seems honest but I never fully trust any dealers. Anyways, since it was not endorsed by NOA I thought well, maybe it truly is, so I bought it, even though I had/have suspicions.
The cello is a bit loose, the seams are on both sides and the bottom, thing is 1 seal is perfectly straight, the others are slightly askew? Theres also two small round holes(not punctures) on the upper left sides. Also, theres a small tear on the bottom left side of the box. Maybe these are factory flaws. Even if it is a reseal, I still got a damn good deal though, unless the hardcase is also a reseal, In which case I will tweak and go back to the seller
Obviously pics are in order, but I borrowed mine out so 'til I can take really detailed pics can anyone please help me out by the description I've written? I would be very grateful.

How much is he charging for these and does he have more. I believe the yellow jacket was the factory seal for the Canadian release of these and as far as I now they came out of Winnipeg back in the day.
Yes, thank you! Its says distributed by K-tel International, Winnipeg, Manitoba, my birthplace, although it was made in the states. I remember as a kid seeing infomercials for that company (K-Tel), strange. As for anymore of them, I don't think so, & if there had been I woulda bought 'em. So just by my description it is a legit seal? Maybe the worker sealing it was a bit lazy or something, just that the uneven seal on one side piqued my suspiscions, although the jacket is a bit concave so maybe that explains the loose cello? As for price, this guy was clueless as to what he was selling me and I haggled him down to a REALLY good price considering there's a BIN right now on e-Bay for $316 for just the sealed hardcase. I'm so damn tempted to take the jacket off to look at the hard case, but if I ever plan on reselling, it may detract from the value, although in my post in price check a few weeks back, some guys were saying the jacket doesn't add much value? I don't see why not.
I need to borrow my brother's camera, mine is so archaic you wouldn't be able to see all the subtleties on the box, so stay tuned, and I'll post pics (and maybe the price I paid) in Finder's Keeper's.
These are very commonly sealed. So if you rip off the seal, you're probably not decreasing the value much (if at all).
Given where you found this and the history behind the piece, very likely legit. I wouldn't worry.
Right on! Bought it right in Winnipeg so yeah it most be for real, makes you wonder if there's a whole box of these lurking somewhere in the "Peg". When I was inspecting the box and asking about the seal, I realized the same thing- since it's not liscensed then a H-seam would likely be irrelevant, that's when I said SOLD!. Should I or shouldn't I de-seal, that is the question, there are a few small tears so I'm leaning towards the former, just to look at the contents-and of course the rush of opening such an item. Also, I could work out that slight concave-ness in the middle I wrote aboot. Tuxedo-I'm working on what we spoke about in that PM and will try to get it done ASAP.
Edit: pseudonym- I will of course try to find out as much info as possible. The condition is good. It is concave (bent slightly inwards on the front) but it's in such a manner that it almost looks like it was intended to be that way) I'd say most collectors would be really happy to fing one in this shape, I really need to take some pics and will when possible. Also, since we're both manitoban's maybe send me a PM and we can discuss where you found your's, maybe the same guy perchance? If you don't want to that's understandable. Thanks everyone!
arguing with that seller was probably not really a good idea. take a step back and think about this thought: do the hardcase maxi 15s have a horizontal seal? there are no unlicenced games with the horizontal seal, and even some licensed games didnt have the seal.
i have had 2 of this game factory sealed (the canadian version packaging), and i can say that the box is made of shit material and does not hold up well. as for opening it, i would probably not do that if i were you, but seeing that you probably got it for a very cheap price and the seal is already has tears in it, go for it! but dont be surprised at what you find inside... its just the black hard case maxi 15! haha.
kidicarus, you have a factory sealed canadian release of maxi 15.

Hey srh. I think you may of misunderstood. There was no no argument whatsoever, no raised voices, I'm not the confrontational type, meek if anything. Me and him had a smoke after the transaction and chatted a fair while, and exchanged jokes and phone #'s. That quote of him swearing was just his general demeanor, every third or fourth word from his mouth was fu*k. And I just capped locked emphatic, because the price was so low on that game yet he's selling Trog for 24.99, and I wanted to ensure I was buying what I thought I was buying, after all, the guy was just a proxy and was not terribly knowledgeable, asked if he had megaman 6, and he says there is no such game lol. An argument wouldn't of made him amenable to dropping the price nearly $40.00, would it
Surprised he went down that much, must of gone unsold for some while
I'm not going to open it I've decided, it's just a miniscule tear in one or two places, and I've seen the inner contents, like you say- nothing special. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a "factory sealed" I suppose. As for the shitty box- there's a message on the box proclaming how eviro. responsible it is, apparently they "eliminated 15 paper game boxes, 15 poly bags. etc" so probably heavily recycled material, so I'll keep it sealed it they fall apart that easily. Thanks everyone I'm still wondering why the seal looks unprofessional? Maybe it's just the company. Not sure if I'll flip this one or keep it. Looks really nice on my shelf so probably keep it, IDK. What did you do with your maxi's, if you don't mind me asking? Sorry for the long message
as for seals on unlicensed games, the majority of them were made by mom and pop companies trying to profit off of the success of the NES. programmers would leave companies licenced with nintendo and go make games for shitty companies, etc, etc, etc. the seal on games like that is the same sort of seal that you would find on any resealer machine nowadays. nothing special. they had to keep costs down in order to make some profit!
as for what i do with my copy, because the box doesnt fit on the normal shelves, here is what i do with mine (you can find it if you look closely enough!)...
Yeah yeah I know, the icon isn't original, nor is my username, and I was planning to change it yet, not because of what you wrote though
but what in particular peeves you off about it, not a contra fan (which would be blasphemous ), (kidding) or is it the poor quality? Just curious. And while we're on the topic of icons, what the heck is yours lol, it's freakin' me out man! Please don't tell me it's what I think it is?
I can see the Maxi in the pic, directly right to something that's making me green with envy right now! I really want a CIB Arkanoid with the special "Vaus" dial controller. Nice collection man. You wrote you had 2 Maxi's? Did you sell the other? If so, and you don't mind maybe PM with the selling price. Take care Mr. McBoobins, and all others who helped me out.

I've mentioned it a few times before, but there used to be a warehouse with a bunch of these and they were sold off sometime in the late 90's. I'm pretty sure I know what seller your talking about but I've never bought a Maxi-15 from him.
What address is on your Maxi-15? There were a few different ones AFAIK.
qix, that post made me laugh and im in the middle of a healthcare training... I probably shouldn't be on my pda
and mrn, I don't have any more women's bikinis at my apartment, so u will have to continue to enjoy that 10-month old pic!

I assume your talking about the flood 'O 97? I've also heard from local collectors about some warehouse that was flooded or something, wish I was collecting back then, maybe I'm wrong though.
Srh- I haven't seen any other users with that icon, and I've read a lot of posts, though I'm sure there is. I guess your avatar is pretty original- not too many people have an icon of their pea sized teste peeking out
(JK) Anyways, still keeping mine Contra, albeit from Alien Wars.
no balls hanging out. just a hairy thigh. your new avatar is approved!
K, just messin man, to be honest I didn't know what it is was exactly. The ave I have now was what I was hoing to use originally, had trouble finding that exact screenshot at first. Thanks for the approval you have bestowed upon me lol
sorry guys, but its been a while since this has been posted, and i think it needs to be posted again! hahahahah!
