Sorry Jobber we kind of took over the thread a bit (or a lot). Not to discount your awesome collection of course. Please let us know if there are two new variants out there
Crap I just placed my first order with Amazon and I hope it is ok. It's all New stuff so maybe I'll have better luck.
amazon is fine. Amazon warehous deals inc. is the seller that Ive had bad luck with . Just a subdivision of amazon. warehouse deals is the one I believe that gets alot of stuff in subpar condition and sells them as used cheaper.
Oh ok cool I didn't realize that. I really hope it works out because they had some decent deals
Amazon should absolutely be good. Even if there is an issue they have among the best customer service there is.
Admittedly Amazon Warehouse can be hit or miss. They sell both used games from trade ins and also returns. Most likely the issues are from returns that were originally damaged. I've had good luck and found some amazing deals but you do have to be careful and it helps to know what the descriptions typically mean. The AWD thread on Cheap Ass Gamer is pretty helpful.
Edit: definitely let us know what Variants you are checking on. One of us in here may be able to help.
A game i thought was common but actually have never seen one in the wild. Smurfs 2. Got a sealed copy cheap on ebay awhile back and havent needed it. But thinking about it , ive never seen one in person.
I think I have seen Smurfs used at EB Games. It's pretty crazy though how many titles are not found in stores
Yea , i bought it for 8 shipped the first time i even knew it existed and was never actively searching for it. I havent seen one at gamestop i dont think. We have 3 gamestops. At one point in time i believe ive pretty much seen atleaat 1 of other stuff. Might have missed over it once, but i dont think so.
lego city undercover is 29.99 used at gamestop now.26.99 if you have a pro card. I dont see that game going much lower since its a wii u exclusive and a good game.
I think there is definitely a chance that Nintendo releases more Nintendo Selects around Christmas since they don't have much else going this year. Europe and Australia got some Selects that the US didn't receive, such as Lego City Undercover, and those could be getting a reprint later.

I picked up a couple of sealed copies a long time ago, it's also published by Nintendo which is cool. Ageed that $26.99 is a good deal

Yes they did get Lego City. They also got Nintendoland, Mario Bros U, Windwaker. I'm ok with that though because collectors will want the originals, not the selects (I'll still grab the NA selects as variants though)
I'll get the Selects eventually. I haven't bought any yet even though they are available everywhere. If they go on sale around Black Friday or Boxing Day I may grab them then. Definitely are last on the priority list for Wii U.
Yea, I'm not going to worry about selects at this time. Maybe if I work on variants at some point in the future. That said, with Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked they are only $16. If they get much cheaper at some point I'd probably grab a few extra copies to put up in case I do decide to work on Variants or I could probably use them as trade bait in the future.

I just brought it up because it will likely drive the price of the non-Selects down if Selects are released for those games.
I'm of a differing opinion. I think collectors will want the originals and not the reprint Selects. I think it's still too early to tell of course.
As a side note I know some of the Wii selects (like wii sports and pikmin) fetch more than their original asking price which is not indicative of all selects but interesting to mention

Yes it will. The originals will get a bit more but it drastically cuts the price. Which pissed me off with pikmin 3. They changed the name to selects so they dont have to call them players choice, million sellers, greatest hits etc. spent 50 on pikmin 3 years after release for it to be reprinted as a select pissed me off since it wasnt a huge seller snd it was already reprinted. Thats why i went ahead and bought it. The price went down to a realistic 50 again after the reprint.
So here's a strange one. I received today a "new" copy of Walking Dead. I've seen tons of Wii U games in my time, but this one is sealed differently than any I've encountered. It has one Y-fold on the top and one on the side. Same with the bottom: one on the bottom, one on the side (so two on the side total, one top, one bottom). This seems reallly strange to me and makes me think it's a reseal, but there isn't any obvious wear beneath the seal. So does anyone else have a sealed copy, and if so can you check to see if it's sealed the same way mine is? Thanks in advance for your time & help.
I doubt it's resealed. A lot of my Wii U (and even Wii) games have really sloppy seals. They're lose, sealed backwards (seem is on the spine of the game), or the Y-folds don't quite line up with the corners (definitely not as extreme as the one you have). Dunno, I can't explain it, but with it being such a cheap, massively produced game this also doesn't surprise me.
Actually, the more I think about it, I believe I do have a couple games wrapped like that. I'll check later tonight if I get the chance.
Thanks guys. It does seem like it would be more trouble than it's worth, but there are some places where they just re-wrap things all the time and I was thinking it might be something like that.
Ive seen somecreally good reseals. The only reason i knew they were because there was a preowned sticker under them over the other barcode. Walmart preowned comes resealed. But there is that sticker. Comes off easy and smooth. All my walmart stuff has been gem mint even used. Mario tennis had to have been new. I think all these games are primarily new but were opened and sold as used.
Is there really going to be another skylanders this year on wii u? Damnit
Yes, it's the Activision way. Just like they drove Guitar Hero into the ground, they are bound and determined to do the same to Skylanders. Not that I really care, but their business model seems to be based on "generate new fad, milk it as much as possible, find another fad when it inevitably dies" instead of actually looking over the long haul.

As a complete set collector. just the thought of having to wait for a price drop on a 5th starter pack to sub 15 dollars is going to be annoying. I dont really have space for another bundle either. I thought I was done with toys to life when disney infinity canceled their next game. I thought skylanders was done.
Haha... I feel the same way. Just waiting for these shovelware/gimmicky games to come out and drop in price. It's all good though. I'm in no rush and having nothing tough left on my list as far as I can tell. It's actually kinda nice to not have to worry about finding some of the seemingly low print titles from the first year or two, especially with summer here etc.
I did end up checking my Wii U games last night and saw that none of them were sealed like that, including my copy of Walking Dead. Some are sealed backwards (seam on the spine), but nothing with the Y-fold on the side. It could be a reseal, I guess, but like I said in the last post there, I doubt it for various reasons.

Yea the ones i have mentioned before were older. Smurfs is in the final stage of liquidating from retail and in the hands of secondary sellers.
