Licensed and Unlicensed since I don't see how you could make a complete pirate list or anything. Everything other than pirates I would say though, Test, Homebrew, etc.
Id say if your making a comprehensive list including everything, split it up into sections. licensed, unlicesened, pirates etc. So it would be easier to sift through overall for say a licensed only collector, or a crazy variant collector

Shouldn't be that hard, just add a column for publisher and "Licensed or Unlicensed" in Excel. Then you can autofilter by either column to see only what you want. Only Unlicensed Tengen, or only Licensed Capcom for example. Of course this would default to "ALL" when no filtering is performed.
yeah, i'm thinking i'm going to make a checklist to go along with the book. something just a few pages long that can help people keep track of games.
i'm pretty sure erik's list is for CIB and these are just carts only, and I already have a list I just need to shrink, edit and fit it all. i could probably get this done tonight if it goes well.

So its really licensed only, or licensed + unlicensed if you want to get technical lol
unlicensed - what people normally count in the set: tengen, camerica, color dreams, etc.
pirates - multicarts, pirated single carts, proto-releases, etc.

Erik (braveheart) probably has a crazy variant list he compiled. It would probably be a good idea to hit him up for some assistance in that department
