- Play until you run out of lives on your first credit.
- You can capture your score upon starting the 2nd credit (your score will end in a 1)

First time doing one of these. When do I have until?
You have the entire month.
I used to be able to 1 life Final Fight back in the day, but I'm not sure if there is much scoring to the game other than getting as far as you can. Aren't you required to kill everything to advance? Perhaps the only difference is the item drops, but I'm not sure if those are static or random.
Yeah, I think it's mostly a progression-gauntlet. There are some hidden/elusive loot pick-ups which would impact total score. It's been long enough that I don't recall if there are any "optional" enemies or if take-down method impacts score (i.e. defeating an enemy w/punch vs. w/throw vs. w/knife, etc.). There's also how well you do on the bonus stages.

Yeah it may effectively be a progression contest. But if there are ways to squeeze out points this would reward you for it
Shiet... one death in SAI... doubt I'll get past the first area
Keep in mind with 6-10 likely participants it probably won't matter unless two people beat the game. So my tip is to focus on progression.
Stage 2-2 - 77500
Stage 2-2 - 79000
Final Fight
342461
1-4
Not sure how good or bad this score is, but at least my 1st attempt will be the best attempt for a little while.
Put me down for some Final Fight. Beat Belger.
3-1

One trick I find that works well for him is to try and knock him down near the top of the ring and then stand directly below him near the bottom of the ring. He typically runs a little to the left or right for whatever reason and you should be able to get at him again. Most of the final Fight bosses seem to be programmed to go blow for blow during the fights.
Alright taking a break
3-1
just edit the one post with the new picture and score. It will get confusing later on having a bunch of pictures. Easier to look through. Just make a new post saying updated score when you change the picture. Keeps the thread clean.
The concerns you raise are defnitely not new and we are relying on the honor system to a degree here, as this main intent for this thing is for everyone to just have fun collectively playing a game.
Would emulators be seen as cheating as you could save state before every fight in final fight and therefore with some patience beat the game without dying?
Why bother with save states? 9 times out of 10 you can beat the game without using a continue if you use grouping strategies. Just find a way to group all the enemies on screen and you can hit multiple enemies at once. It tricks the AI into making them all move in unison once they stand up.
The trick to Sodom/Katana is to disarm him and use his weapons against him. When he dashes use Jump+Attack to hit him. The hardest boss in the whole game is the twin Andores. They have the smallest stage and it's hard to group them together without one just grabbing you and choking you to death. Belger is simple one you learn his pattern.
1-1
I suck at this game. Can't even get passed the 1st stage. Not even pic worthy. I'll keep trying but pssh...
Final Fight - 825,811
Sodom/Katana is an a-hole and typically where I lose most of my lives. Even knowing some basic strategies to tackle him (avoid punching and instead approach him from top or bottom for throws), I find avoiding his charge attacks nearly impossible.
A little practice has done well in dealing with Sodom/Katana but he still troubles me with occasional charges that seem impossible to counter/avoid. Still, I find myself losing 1-2 lives on him now as opposed to 3-4, which is a huge boon.
Allthough I'm not a big fan of the SNES titles, still great to see another Adventure Island competition.
Come on guys i dont own final fight, someone challenge me on super adventure island!
