If that's true about no more reprints, I think that's great!  Does anyone know what the official last release for the DS is?

Don't quote me on this, but according to my own research and records, it's the Disney "Two Pack" w/ Frozen and Big Hero 6, with a release date of early 2015 It's the only DS game that was being sold new at GameStop up until recently, and most GS's around me had it on the new shelf next to 3DS games. Since both games had individual DS releases, some may say this is a variant or not count towards unique game. I personally count it, but I know others may not. As for the last unique game, if I had to throw out a guess, it would be Winx Club: Saving Alfea, from Little Orbit, and that was November 2014.

Edit: I have noticed GameStop JUST reprinted a large # of DS games, including Dragon Quest IV-V-VI-IX, Final Fantasy Tactics, possibly Avalon Code, a ton of the Pokemon games, amongst several others.

I think you're right about the last DS release, but I don't see any Avalon Code near me. Are there some available in your area of Ohio (assuming you're not in Central)

There is a GameStop in my region NE Ohio that has a mint Avalon Code for 18$. I am pretty sure it was a reprint because it looked "new" like all their other "used" reprints. Coincidentally, its also one of 2 GS's that sells CIB that I know of.

But you should pick up that Avalon Code (I'm sure you have it, but it would be a nice hook up for someone or trade bait) assuming they didn't do a full on reprint (I know some Atlus titles just got reprinted through some Canadian site)

Can't say I'm surprised. My guess is before Nintendo ceased DS cart production Gamestop, VGP, and anyone else that wanted to get more made got their orders in first. Probably see more popping up randomly in the next month or two before it truly stops.

I don't think avalon code got a reprint. I don't see any within a 100 mile radius of me and you can't order them online from GameStop's website. If it were reprinted, itd be like cubic ninja and there would be 1 copy at literally ever GameStop. The castlevania ds games might've also been reprinted. I see them everywhere.
  • Dunno if anyone else uses them, but the ___ Collecting family of iOS apps just released one for DS. I've spent the last day marking shovelware to be excluded
  • Oh my. For some crazy reason I thought it'd be a good time to catalog my entire DS collection.

    This is taking a while....

@Brock, thanks for the heads up! I'll check it out.
  • Additions since the last pic, 6 or so months ago

    Everything together

  • ^^^Sweet! How is Exit DS?

I'll have to snap an updated pic! Picked up a few recently, Konami Arcade Collection, Sonic Classics & Sonic Colors.
  • Its pretty fun. I've only done the first area as I just played it to test it out for a day or two while waiting for Ultimate NES Remix to arrive awhile back. I'll get back to it at some point

Steel Horizon.  I don't think its supposed to be that great, but I won it on eBay for like $4
  • On a whim I bought Chibi-Robo from Gamestop for $10 used (along with Persona Q and Codename Steam)

It came with a big box with an amiibo in it. Since I'm now the unintentional owner of one of those things, how do they work?

You got a poster for your Metal Slug 7?

The Amiibos have different functions for each game I beleive but I think you'd need a reader or "New" 3DS in order to use them? Not sure, I've only used the Shovel Knight amiibo on Wii U.

I think so,  pretty sure it was complete anyways

amiibo work differently for each game. The chibi robo one unlocks super chibi robo mode, according to Nintendos website. Also if you don't have a new 3ds you need an adapter

Cool, I have a spare is why I ask. Took me a few times to find one with the poster, slipcover and bonus disc.

  • I've been ds collecting for less than a year trying to make up for the past. Started out with a dsi and zelda phantom hourglass cib on ebay for $30 and then the seller threw in 6 extra shovelware titles he found lying around, to buying random cool titles locally, playing around with flash carts for translated games and getting a $18 shipped japanese ds lite in navy blue. evolved to buying a new 3ds quickly, and now all said am around 54 regular ds complete titles, and 31 3ds titles. So much good on both systems, really revived me back to gaming since the last consoles ive owned in their lifespan were ps2/xbox/gc/gba. I've been lurking this thread for a while and decided to post after a few beers so hey haha. Ima try to post pics up soon. everyone has such massive collections it makes me strive for more

I don't want to alarm you, but I think that your room may have an anti gravity field of some sort.

As far as DS games go, I noticed recently that Shepherd's Crossing 2 seems to be significantly more difficult to find these days. Up until about a week ago I hadn't seen any copies up for sale in quite some time. Now I'm a little interested in seeing what this auction ends up selling for. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shepherds-Crossing-2-DS-Nintendo-DS-2010-/252459478375?hash=item3ac7c1ed67:g:3ukAAOSwNSxUylmO

Baha, yeah. I tend to use Imgur in order to avoid stuff like that, or Amazon Cloud.

  • Heres a fun little game to play!   which reverse cover art poster do you have for Izuna 2? Theres 4, 2 that would of randomly came with the game, an amazon exclusive 1 and a gamestop exclusive 1. Heres a little snippet about it:

The 4 different posters (the far right one is the Gamestop 1 and the 2nd from right is the Amazon 1):

Thinkin i have the most boring 1 :/ Would rather have the Amazon 1 because......milk... tho the gamestop 1 looks the coolest i'd say!

  • I just went and cataloged my DS collection...up to 93 games so far. But about half is loose unfortunately.

I hate loose games...but it's the only way I find DS games anymore...no one keeps the cases...weirdly since it's hard plastic and protects the game...but the DS was marketed at kids so...I guess I get it.

I also uncovered a fake in my collection...bah. Had to look over EVERY DAMN CARTRIDGE to make sure it wasn't fake. I'll know what to look for from now on at least.

It's pretty frustrating that it's so difficult to find complete DS games already. Wish GS didn't automatically toss out cases as soon as they get them. They have some amazing prices but with essentially zero chance at getting a case or manual I usually just avoid picking them up unless it's a deal to good to miss.

One of the few times i'm glad to be a Canadian collector.  Ebgames has yet to adopt this.  Loose games are still common place, but so are boxed.

DQ187 the fold in your izuna poster makes her look like she has a squashed and tiny head!  I've got the amazon exclusive ('cause milk!)

Yeah i feel ya, im goin cib only and ive passed up some great games because either no manual or cart only. local chain (disc replay/traders) has been good to me consistently pricing games lower because theres not as big of a demand for original ds stuff and no upcharge for cib.

What was the fake may i ask?
