Storage recommendations for guides?

I would really like to get some nice storage materials for my strategy guides, I'm just not sure what to use.  I would assume comic book holders with cardboard backs are the best thing.  I want to be able to store them but still be able to display them standing up on a bookshelf.  Any ideas?

  • What a coincidence, I was just thinking of creating a topic asking who collects strategy guides. I don't "collect" them persay, but I've kept every one I've ever bought as a youth, and I also keep any I get from reselling that I know would be hard sells (like Diddy Kong Racing, Mortal Kombat, etc.)

As for storing, I have no idea. I used to keep Becketts in 3 ring binders with protective sleeves on them but it sounds like you have some expensive/mint guides you want to show off. Not sure how I'd go about that.
  • Most strategy guides are probably too big for comic book boxes. You'll probably want to use magazine boxes instead. They also sell Treasury edition bags and bords that might do the trick. Though they are a little more expensive and a little more difficult to come by. Try a hobbie shop or comic book shop near you. Also don't forget acid free boards! I collect comics
  • Humn... I like this idea Adam... I have a ton of them for NES and even though they are small things (mostly) I have tons of extra comic supplies and this would be a great way to store them as opposed to just keeping them in a big unorganized stack. Good post!!
  • you can customize the comic protectors (as well as the cardboard backings that go in them). i did that for each of my 3 guides that i got from bronty. for things that are bigger than the comic protector, im not really sure what to do with those to present them & protect them at the same time
  • I use mylar magazine protectors and they work great plus there stiff enough that you don't need the cardboard backing.
  • I find that guides and game magazines do warp over time if left on a shelf. I like to bag and board my gaming Mags, i think I might just start doin it to the guides.
  • right...does anyone have any links for comic storage bags/boards in bulk? i would start with ones just for the standard size guides...then would need others for the custom sizes (i.e. Doublejump guides, Phantasy Star III, NES ones, etc.).
  • i think you would be getting magazine bags and boards. Just my opinion though.
  • right, my bad...just want normal size ones, acid free...i think they will do the job
