Won't affect sales at all. Emulator boxes are already available for cheaper than the AVS, so someone buying on price was already out. For anyone playing carts this NES mini isn't an option. Genesis/Atari/Coleco/Intv flashbacks haven't significantly affected console demand so I doubt this will either.
"Competition" is a strong word and all articles on the subject are clear to point out that the Mini does not support carts or original peripherals, and cannot be updated to add more titles. The Mini will be fun for the right market, but it was never the same market as the AVS.
I've made sure to put in a good word for the AVS with all of those grumbling about lack of features on the Mini - actually a good opportunity to highlight the AVS as a stronger alternative.
I think initially this may slow down AVS sales, but once people buy it and figure out hey I only got 30 games, they'll end up missing one of their favs that's not included and end up with a AVS, at least that's my hope.
It only takes one!

The first time they try to blow in it to make it work is going to be a huge disappointment.
So I've been AWOL for a while, are there going to be enough to go around for the first batch? Who/what do I need to sacrifice and where to be able to secure an order? People talking about an LE, should I get the cooler out for my kidney now or leave it fresh?
LLE number reservation is going to start pretty soon. It will be initially based around ownership of previous numbered/limited/gold retroUSB/RetroZone carts, so get those out! I need to figure out which carts will apply and which will have priority.
Still no specific plan for preorders, other than they may start when the consoles leave the factory around July 26.

Count me among the many who are getting the AVS no matter what. That doesn't mean I'm not getting the mini-NES. I'm hyped for that too! That one will get hooked up to the TV by my bed.
While the NES mini is a cool nostalgia product, it doesn't hold a candle to the AVS. The AVS is a full blown next gen retro console. All the bells and whistles. This is a serious product for die hard NES fans. I'm so excited about the AVS I might actually buy two. I live on two coasts, east and west, and I'm thinking about buying one for each home.

Since the NES Classic Mini doesn't work with NES carts, this announcement isn't as amazing as I initially thought. AVS is still the front runner for a modern-age NES.
Well, since everyone else is going for the LLEs, Kosmic and I can duke it out for 1-2 spots on the REs.
This! And all seven launch titles...
As for the Mini, my love for carts will not stop me from picking one up. It will also be interesting to see how the AV stacks up. Will there be scaling artifacts due to non-integer ratios?I just hope Nintendo decides to do sharp pixels and not the blurr-o-vision filter they currently employ on Wii-U VC. I mean, SNES and GBA are razor sharp, so why is NES a fuzz fest?
I'm guessing that there will be quite the rush for both LE and RE orders when the time comes....
But onto an actual question: unless I dreamed it, I believe I have an X% off coupon for the AVS that came with 8-Bit XMAS 2015. Will the checkout/order system be able to handle these...? I want to be ready (e.g. should I need a photo of the coupon?)
Bunny must send me one for free to make comparable screenshots between the AVS and the Coleco Chameleon. I will not be returning it or posting pics of the back of Chameleon though.

My dentist sold me a Chameleon, but I can't find the HDMI port. What gives?

Regular editions are $185, the LE comes with a big wooden box (added shipping, I presume) and probably some more goodies, so plan accordingly.

Thanks for the info! Time to go number checking.

Better update your GoDaddy stuff.

Both are awesome in their own right. I want to use the official one for my living room and this one for my gameroom.
