Amazing, the casing alone ie extremely impressive.
  • Toys R Us still doesn't have the nes mini back up on their website. I wonder if they took preorders when they weren't supposed to. They are the only (U.S.) site I've seen so far that were taking them. All other places said it was not available to do so yet.
  • Eh, I have pretty much every game on there and I'm stickler for original hardware. For someone who just wants a little nostalgia kick and doesn't have an original NES this seems like a great deal though.
  • I thought of getting one but I think I will put the money into the Standard AVS console. I am totally looking forward in playing one when I finish working away from home along with all the carts and repros I bought on this forum.
  • I imagine most people at NA won't be playing the Mini NES, even if they buy it. I'm only going to buy one if it can be modified to run homebrew OR I'll get a used one and replace the insides with a RPi.

I think a lot of NAers will buy one to collect.

And/or hoard to reap massive profits!
  • I know it's a pipedream but, would you guys actually play it if there was a way for it to read original carts?
  • I'm grabbing one to put downstairs on my LCD. That way if friends come over they can play and I don't have to worry about carts/system or lag.

If it were made like the one in the youtube video,I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I know it's not a legit cart slot in the traditional sense, but still awesome.
  • I got mine to play as well. Most of my retro stuff is in storage, and when I do get into a new house, the retro systems will be on a CRT (hopefully). I'd have the NES mini for my big flatscreen TV in the basement / living room.

Yeah I probably don't "need" it, but it's no different then spending $60 on a new release that you only play once and then stick on a shelf anyway. Worth the money for me even if I don't use it a whole lot.

Exactly. Totally worth it to me too.

I'm thinking if you work at a computer it would be great on breaks at work. Most monitors have HDMI now right?

That's the perfect application for it...

  • I have no real need for this since I already have just about all of the games available for it, plus an Everdrive. However, I'll probably pick one up just for the novelty of it. With that said, I refuse to pay more than retail for it, and I refuse to wait in line /campout in front of a store for it. If either of those things are required to get one due to scarcity, I will not buy one.
  • I'm gonna have my NES (original and top loader) hooked up to my CRT in my retro game room, my AVS hooked up in my basement music/game room, and then this hooked up to the tv in my living room, or maybe to the tv in my bedroom.

It's totally overkill but I don't care. I love the concept of it. Once I get an everdrive/powerpak I'm probably gonna keep it in the AVS at all times so I don't have to run up/down stairs every time I want a new game, leaving my actual collection to my CRT/NES.

this. That's about how I feel with any newly manufactured product though. That Bullshit shouldn't be required to enjoy something they're still making.
  • I have no plans on buying one, but I will definitely be picking up one or two of those Wii-compatible NES controllers.
  • I like it for the idea of having something in a room that currently has no games. It's a quick easy solution. I will definitely be waiting for a price drop but will likely get one eventually.

I've been lucky enough to be online at the right times and have caught almost every "limited" Nintendo item the past few years. The only time I lined up outside of the store was for wave 4 Smash amiibo, and it felt pretty bad having to do it even that once.

The amiibo problem has certainly been resolved, but Nintendo needs to get their shit together on everything else. I think the NES mini will have the same issues the amiibo/limited edition games and systems did. They won't meet the demand, and then the price will be sky high for months until they eventually release another batch, and the resellers will be kicking themselves for hoarding all of them.

Why would you want to handicap yourself without analog steering?

CZroe and I have found 2 of them at our local flea market. I know at least one of them was a Lootcrate exclusive. Ours don't have arms, legs, or the zapper because I didn't know to look for those in the box of junk where I found them. I have a Dr. Who/Dr. Mario one (really cool) and something that looks like pixelated aliens from Mars Attacks.

    If they mated

I remember that too.  I also remember not buying a Nintendo Wii until I could walk into a store at any time and pick one up for regular retail price.

You could be on a long wait. It took a long time for smash bros GC adapter and amiibos to even sell at normal price. The hype for this thing seems to be up there so I'm guessing it could be like that and the NES's could become scarse and scalpers will jack up the prices on ebay.

  • Can anyone do me a favor, quote me so i get notified, with a preorder link please? I read about toys r us preordering on tuesday for this but i dont have time to sift through this thread, yet. Thank
