Hi. I'm a compulsive spender on a gaming bender.
'Sup. I'm an 18-year-old soon-to-be college sophomore living in Fort Myers, FL. I've been playing Nintendo since the day I was taken home from the ICU, but I've only recently re-bought an NES and games.
I had one when I was a kid. It never really worked, from what I can remember. My parents gave it away a decade ago. I got an SNES when it came out, thanks to my dad, and that was the focus of my video-gaming for years. Even after the Nintendo 64 came out, I still played that SNES like mad. All is well. Kind of.
I bought an NES at Gamestop back in '04 or '05, along with five games, but the console never really worked. I'll probably grab a connector off of the internet sometime and restore that up eventually, but instead of that I snagged a refurbished console off of eBay in a lot with a controller, an NES Max, NES Advantage, along with Bases Loaded and Double Dragon.
Anyway, the fact that I can actually play NES games outside of emulation now has re-invigorated my love for the console. I found out about this place via a poster here named "Penguin". So, if I'm an ass or whatever, blame him.
So, uh, yeah. Hey.

You're so lucky
Welcome to the site
I wouldn't go blaming Penguin for your behavior
Gamestop had NES systems in '05? I guess that was the clearout times. All the Gamestops around me just had a handful of games with torn labels. Congrats on getting one then.

Thanks.
I'm not entirely sure when I got the Gamestop NES, but I know it was before 2006. Whatever.
I distinctly remember Gamestop's prices being through the roof. Stuff like Bases Loaded being sold for $9. I did not get that, thankfully.
What does bug me about this place is that it seems like every purchase I've made in the past seems absolutely insignificant to what half of you guys find out there. Dear God, people walking into stores with pocket change and coming out with enough game carts to severely weigh down their car. I thought getting a copy of Dr. Mario for $5 was a steal... I'll have to go out to some of the flea markets and thrift stores soon. I've been to a bunch of the Pawn Shops in my area but there's nothing there in the way of Nintendo stuff. At least, not right now... I may check back soon.

If you want cheap games, ask the people you know. You would be surprised how many people will just give you old games if they know you collect. Also remember that some people have been collecting games for a long time and have gotten some games cheap. I started collecting NES in 1995 and got Bubble Bobble 2 for about $8. Some great stories aren't always because the collector worked hard and got a great deal, as much as that might have been the going rate at the time.
Do some trading on the board and be active on the boards. I haven't been here very long, and I have meet some amazing people. I feel like I have made good friends in the short time I have been here. Lastly remember that no matter how small you might feel like your collection is ( i am at about 1400 and i fell like a little fish
Welcome and I look forward to dealing with you in the future
Welcome, too !
