NintendoAge 2016 Weekly Contests Presents: Rollergames
Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests! This week’s game is going to be Rollergames. Here are the rules:
The contest ends Sunday, 8/14/16 at 11 PM NA time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun
When given the choice, pick whichever team you want
Play until Game Over.
Furthest progression wins, lowest score takes precedence. If you reach stage 6-4 (green section at the end of stage 6) you must immediately commit suicide to get a Game Over and take a picture of your score. In other words, your run ends at stage 6-4.
To prevent excessive lives farming, you can't have a score higher than 100,000 by stage 6-1.
Get to stage 2

Stage 3-2: 26,300
does anyone else remember the TV show this game was based on ? it was on saturday mornings after wrestling and was a scripted roller derby / drama , good teams vs the bad teams
Heck yeah! Except here, they only showed it at 1am on saturday nights, after Saturday Night Live. That was a task and a half staying up for when I was a kid.
Can't believe I missed the past two weekly contests(my schedule has been exhausting the past two weeks). I love this game, I can't wait to buckle down and submit a good score.
I have to give this game some credit for the hilarity of the first boss that's just some dude frantically running back and forth until he's out of breath.
It's actually an old lady, which makes it a little more hilarious...
EDIT: I beat stage 3-2 and made it to the boss using continues and then game over'd on the boss. I had enough and shut it off after that, but he didn't seem too difficult.
This game has momentum based jumping and there are times where it's tricky to gain enough momentum.

Oh, that's the badass crone who trash talks you at the beginning of the stage.
Went to swap out my powerpak for the real Rollergames cart, and broke the tray in my NES TV. Leaving Friday to Canada for my 15th Wedding Anniversary, so whatever I can muster before then will be my score this week. I love a good beat 'em up!
Unfortunately I have discovered that high score in this game can easily be broken. I'll discuss with the mods now, but anticipate rule changes or amendments
But there is a time limit that constrains things so a rule change might not be necessary.
I'd be fine with a progress/low score contest though. It might be more fun with progress through the game being the goal.
EDIT: That might be impossible because it doesn't show your score. Crap.
Yeah, It's my opinion that this doesn't give enough time to get a decent picture especially with my bright screen. I think the low score rule is good enough, and there is no need for the 1 life rule in addition to that.
But do we see the stage you're in when you get a game over?
Yes. Stage appears on the continue screen.

Oh, so we might go with game over. The thing I liked about 1 life is that we know for sure with the score how much lives someone is supposed to have. But I'll go with Game Over since it is so hard to take a picture between lives.
I was able to get to the last boss last night, so I'm hoping to have it beat before the end of the week. I can beat it normally just fine, in the past I always needed to use continues, though.
